The way Knob/Coffey like to mix and match their dmen I wouldn’t worry too much about who his “regular” partner is, I fully expect he’ll be coming in with around 20 min a night with multiple different partners. It would also probably be a good thing to cut back on Ekholm’s minutes a bit as he’s been struggling lately, gotta wonder how the long run last summer is affecting him being that he’s coming up on 35 shortly.

Plus he's been sick and his wife got injured skiing and is a bit laid up so he's probably on full-time dad mode with his 3 kids these days haha

3rd pairing Dmen dont have 20 min or more TOI.

In his last 2 years with Detroit Walman had around 20 mins TOI
In San Jose he had just over 23 min TOI.
He has been getting better each season in the NHL...looks like a late bloomer to me.

At this point in time he appears to be a top 4 dman...at least on the left side.

In no way is he a "3rd pairing dman". Whoever suggests that has clearly never watched him. (Or even looked at his stat line?)

I watched a ton of Walman this year; he's an absolute steal for you guys. He moves very well, and was top dman in SJ by a mile.

Agree, though Munzenberger is a lefty while Wanner is right handed. He's undervalued within a brutal program and generally solid shutdown role who kept his head above water. Was wondering if San Jose might look d prospect over a forward. I would for a deep rebuild team.

Walman is 8th on the Sharks in GA/60 5x5 (3.22) 7th in HDGA/60 (1.43) and 9th in On Ice Sv% (89.2), this would be last on the Oilers except Dineen.

Yeah the Sharks are bad and maybe he’s played a pair higher than he should, but that’s a bit scary.

Take it easy sport, I would be looking for a larger fish to spend my 1st on then this player. Hard to say if that player is on the market from sitting on my couch but getting another Ekholm level defender for a larger package is what I would be looking for.

Planning for Kulak in the top 4 is a plan to fail come playoff time. He's not a top 4 d-man. He had a good start to the season and has had some nice moments. But he gets scored against too much.

They were paired for most of the season. Walman got more offensive situational play and Ceci skewed heavily to the goal suppression side and PK. Both had huge minutes, toi and total minutes on a largely overwhelmed team. Should drop fairly well into middle pair or third pair responsibilities and competition.
