Not true. Carlo is a defensive dman RD which is what the Oilers need. Not another offensive LD. Better player is to be determined..
NVM.. you already answered that. Yup, Carlo-Nurse second pair sounds like heaven to me!

Instead we have

Ek Bouch
Nurse NOT a 2RD
Walman Emberson/Stecher/Gus/who cares

And I don't see Walman doing great with reduced ice time, no PP time and playing on third pair.

I get the gist he is a great player and the cost was good. Our left side was totally fine IMO.. I love Kulak at 3RD. Now he may be our 2RD. Or Nurse on his wrong side.

He is. Basically 0 offense but strong pker and been used as main parts of shutdown pair with Bruins
f***EN PERFECT!

Ek Bouch
Nurse Carlo
Kulak Gus
Emberson

Offense on all 3 pairs, Embersson is a great PKer that can step up. Or swap Gus and Emberson.

This would be a D corps I'd love.

Yeah... knowing that Carlo was available, it makes the Walman trade even more questionable. More term, defensive RHD, would have been exactly what the Oilers needed.

Wonder if they were too focused on Rantanen and ran out of time.

We'll have to see how the playoffs go I guess to tell if that was the right move. It's clear the Oilers are all in on wanting to score a lot of goals. It almost worked last year but the wisdom of defensive wins championships makes me wonder how this year will go

Badly.. it will go badly. After last year it was obvious we needed a Ceci replacement and another guy to play with Stu. We didn't address either major need. West just had an arms race yesterday too! I said I'd wait till the TDL to talk about Bowman and Oiler Cup chances. So here we are
Bowman is a stupid f*** who should've never been hired
We aren't winning the West

The plan is for McDrai to get 2 points each a night and win games 4-3 or 5-4. It's a stupid f***en plans.

I feel better now!

Carlo vs Walman would be a good thing to follow this year and next.
I donr know anything about Walman other than his celly so time will tell if Oilers made the right choice?

Clearly you don't know the Oilers. They were absolutely terrible when all their D did was chip it out.
Ceci showed us exactly how detrimental it was to the top 2 lines when you can't skate or move the puck out fast.

Carlo is exactly what this team didn't need

Exactly what the OIlers didn't need is another left shot guy whose strengths are running the PP.

Okay, enjoy defensively questionable left handed PPQB #3? 4?

Unsure how moving/transporting the puck out of the defensive zone is related to being a PP QB but alright.
Ekholm, Nurse, and Kulak are very solidly 2-way defencemen, minus this slump we've been on recently they've been quite solid which has helped out our poor goaltending which is the biggest issue on the team IMO.

He led the Sharks in PK time on ice after Ceci left (averaged 14 seconds fewer than Ceci). He played the toughest matchups and averaged over 23 minutes per game. Yes, he did so on the worst team in the league, but at worst he’s a #4 on a good team.

And all the people focusing on the LHD vs RHD gotta give it a rest. Nurse - for whatever reason - seems to look better when partnered with another lefty. His game improved when they paired him with Broberg in the finals last year, and he’s looked good when paired with Kulak this year.

Walman checks a lot more boxes than people here seem to think.

1 smaller bonus is that he can play the PP2 role (even though that’s only 20-30 seconds per PP), but that frees up rest for Ekholm. He’s also a quality insurance policy should BouchTard get injured.

The last thing the Oilers need is another D who gets hemmed in their zone constantly and is considered a "defensive D" because he provides zero offence. Nurse's in-zone defending is one of his bigger weaknesses and its why he and Ceci were such a horrific pairing. Would have been more of the same with Carlo even with him being a much better D than Ceci.

Nurse's strengths come from back and forth transition play, and defending off the rush. A puck mover/puck retriever is a much better fit for him.

I hope you see it differently after watching Walman today.

I keep reading posts suggesting Walman is good at running the powerplay. Have you ever actually watched him play, because he was nothing more than a trigger on the Shark's PP?

Made an excellent first impression. Was physical, had a really nice assist, was strong defensively.

His hit on Rantanen was a beauty open ice hit.

I was quite pleased to see how good he played. Could turn out to be a very good pick up if he keeps playing like this.

Walman played 25 mins all situations against Dallas and made an impact tonight. Comparing him to Barrie or saying he is third pair was crazy talk. He is an incredible skater and was snapping hard accurate passes,

Any SJ fans want to comment on his PK skills? Scouting report says she is a good shot blocker/PK as well. Seems too good to be true
