Edmonton Gets:
Pominville
Staal

NYR Gets:
Dumba
RNH
Ference

Minny Gets:
Stepan
Yakupov

Edmonton continues to improve their blueline. Adds veterans with leadership and deep playoff experience. They complete their culture change by moving out RNH and Yakupov.

Rangers get move proven vets out for younger players and continue their retooling. Ference could be LTIR for most if not all of 16-17, 17-18 there would be cap savings, though Dumba's raise afterwards would expect to bring costs back up.

Minny gains a top line center and gets Yakupov to replace Pominville. While Pomi was great down the stretch and in the playoffs, hopefully Yak can turn his career around with a new start. Moving out Dumba gives Reilly a deserving spot in the NHL.

Rangers make out like bandits.

Oilers aren't trading RNH for two cap hits. Staal would be on the Oilers 3rd pairing.

This is beyond terrible for Edmonton. Easiest no thanks of my life.

Does Edmonton not benefit from moving out guys like Yakupov and RNH and adding veteran leaders? It's not like these guys have created a winning culture there.

I don't think any Ranger fan want to see Stepan moved out and Staal's "suck" factor is quite over hyped this offseason. IMO, letting Nurse play in the AHL getting major minutes and called up for injuries is better for his development. At some point the acceptance of Yakupov's true play vs his draft position needs to be realized. In the past 3 season Pomi has 22pts in 29 playoff games. Who's going to bring that to Edmonton this year? IMO Staal's #3 behind Larsson and Klefbom and he's better than Sekera and Fayne.

Not sure what this does for the Wild. I worse but younger Winger(Pominville) and Center that is younger, but not appreciably better than what we have in our top 3 currently.

EDM gets screwed.

MN just signed Staal to play C for the next three years, so Stepan is not a need.

NYR makes out like bandits.

It was widely discussed Minny's need for centers last season. They needed them so badly, they claimed Jarret Stoll off waivers and played him in over 55 games. To close the hole, they added Erik Staal who's not looked good at all. Koivu and Staal are both on the wrong side of 30. Stepan is easily the better all round center over Granlund and becomes your #1 pivot in 2 years. IMO they're stocked full of young wingers already, swapping out Pomi for Yakupov is a risk worth taking. If he doesn't work out, there really isn't much lost because in a year, their young wingers will be looking for raises and there really won't be much of a spot for Pomi anyway.

After moving out Yakupov, Edmonton only has Draisaitl looking for a raise. With plenty of cap space and just coming off an ELC, they don't have the same cap concerns as Minny.

Wouldn't give up a 7tb for Staal and that atrocious contract. Asking for RNH is a joke.

Wait, so the Oilers trade RNH + Yak + Ference for 2 guys who both have negative value??? :help:

Honestly one of the worst I've seen on here, congrats!

If Pominville and Staal have "negative value" then so does Lucic and Sekera. And quite frankly, what has RNH done to warrant his 6m a year?

Players get paid in UFA years. What's your thought on Lucic's and Sekera's contracts?

Are you actually comparing Pominville and Lucic?

Staal hasn't been near the same player since his injuries and I wouldn't trade RNH for Sekera either and Sekera is better than Staal right now.

If the Oilers want veteran presence so badly they can sign Mike Richards to a PTO and not give up RNH for an albatross contract. Not to mention that Staal doesn't fit the Oilers needs at all as they need offense from the blueline and another right shot. Would you trade Stepan for Staal if the situations were reversed? I'd guess that's a hard NO.

Just an FYI, Ference is LTIR and paid for by insurance - he's not expected to play again.

RNH and Yakupov for Staal and Pominville?

Pominville is $5.6m for the next three seasons, and Marc Staal is $5.75m till 2021.

Yeah, not going to happen.

Garbage proposal for Edmonton, very poorly though out proposal on the Oilers part of it IMO. For one thing Dumba would be of more use to us than Staal would be and I don't even value Dumba all that highly.

Staal and Poms are winning culture? I think the proper term for this proposal is delusional.

McDonagh and Lundqvist would provide some winning culture.

How many cups do Staal and Pominville have again? The same number as RNH and Yak you say?

We also gut our currently strong center depth in this deal for a past his prime winger and a downward trending LHD that doesn't bring offense to the table.

Wow, I think this actually might be the worst proposal I've ever seen on here. I mean there have been many bad proposals but the bad ones usually are because of a huge value discrepancy. This is Edmonton giving up really good value, and getting negative value back. A lot of good for a lot of bad, how the hell could you think this was a good idea? Those must be some really blurry homer goggles you got on.
