Who said Kane would get a multi-year deal? Everyone knew it would be a 1 year deal for dirt cheap.

Say what you want about Kane but he can produce even without talent around him. If I'm the Oilers, I'm playing him on the third line to feast on weak matchups so they're finally not a 2 line team. That's a very low cost and low risk to accomplish that.

Kane is a loser, and Oilers are a crap organization with a crap team but this is a great signing. Not a star but Kane is a very good player with 100% effort. Luckily Oilers are still garbage.
