It's true that people always freak out when a market resets. That's what's happening, of course.
Still, while there's plenty of overreaction here, there's no way Nurse is worth this for very long. Happy for him though. Good step forward for the league, as well.
Trouba getting 8 was what signaled the reset. Guys better than him typically get more dollars, Pelech's deal notwithstanding.

The Nurse contract is cap spent on D. Oilers have more balance to their cap than some other teams.

You barely watch Oilers hockey so you don't really know much about Nurse which is fair. I've watched Nurse since his draft year and, year after year, I've seen progression. It hasn't stopped in the NHL and he's only gotten better and better. He hasn't reached his peak yet.

The Leon contract was ugly too once. The Jones and Werenski contracts are ugly as well

Saying Nurse didn't regress 2 years ago is a lie. He had a good season 3 years ago, went back to looking like ass two years ago and had an unbelievable season last year. He hasn't progressed every year. Saying that is a lie. You don't remember Edmonton wanting to get rid of him 2 seasons ago? Lol
