These "plan the parade" "omg the this will get the oilers for the cup" - comments are so original. OMG someone said time machine, that was so sick.

I am vomiting on top of my sister because this is literally awesome and I can't handle this. Please, give me more.

Ceci was better in Edmonton than in Toronto.

But I will give you that the #8 D-men, a.k.a as the others, were better in Toronto, but who cares....

Ceci was mediocre everywhere. Others would be more than one guy. Dermott, Brown, Kapanen all had better years of their careers in Toronto, as expected because they were younger and they’re easily replaceable fungible players. Campbell had a year of magic pixie dust that made him feel like a NHL starter in Toronto that he could never replicate. Larger point is that it’s not like the ex-Leafs always excel and play better in Edmonton, which was the original assertion. But who cares is the correct mood.

Just reading these takes reminds me that as much as I love the Oilers and their coach, I dislike their management, about 50-60% of their fans on HF Oil, and 95% of their fans on Reddit.

I don't understand the hate. It seems like a low risk gamble.

Because we have actual holes on the roster and Klingberg doesn't fill any. The Oilers already have offense from the back end, with three D-men on pace for at least 30 points. Why do the Oilers need a defensive Jeff Skinner?

They need a decent NHL goalie to cover for Skinner's next implosion, and a proven, quality, minute-eating 2nd pairing D-man that can play on the right. And if we need quality talent we'll have to trade even more futures for retention because we overpaid for Klingberg, Josh Brown, a replacement-level goalie on a good day in Calvin Pickard, and paid Corey Perry double what he's worth when we all know he'll probably be a healthy scratch come playoff time because he's too slow... These small moves don't look like much, but add up the waste and there's a good player we now can't afford to sign or have to trade away for retention.

I wonder why the Oilers go after so many former Leafs. Is it because the rest of Canada is forced to listen about them 24/7 because of the media Czars in Toronto, so we know all about their players?

All these franchises really have in common is a string of all-time bad GMs who were entirely saved by the star players they lucked into drafting, or inherited, by virtue of being so bad for so long... Except Edmonton's star players are way better.

Here's a fun fact: Toronto is the least successful major pro hockey city since 1967. Yes, even including the Nordiques and Jets, who both won the AVCO Cup (WHA's Lord Stanley) in the 70s. Vancouver has been a SCF bridesmaid thrice and Ottawa once. I really wish Hamilton landed the Preds in '07 thanks to Blackberry dude, because after their Finals trip in 2017 I could include Hamilton too ;) Hell, even their closest neighbour, Buffalo, has been to the Finals more recently...

What a bunch of unhinged sobby posts about a risk-free signing.

Case in point.

Yeah, season is over. No more moves can be done. Call it now.

Oh yeah, there will be moves... I mean they totally solved their problems in net and on the D last year, right?

I wonder who this year's Sam Carrick will be.

I wonder if Klingberg will be a little like what Oilers had in barrie two years ago. If it is, maybe the signing will work out as expected?

There is no need to quote me on an unrelated rant about Toronto

Who would have thought a guy signed for 850k gets 250+ posts in a single day. Oh wait, it’s the Oilers! So many fans with inferiority complex it’s crazy

A lot of Oiler fans think it's a stupid move too...

When did Toronto "choke" in an SCF? Was this during the current century?

Toronto hasn't made the Finals since before we landed on the moon...

Low risk at that price but I’ve never been a fan of Klingberg’s game. Good for him to make it back to the NHL after all the hip issues.

And math is clearly hard for you. Klingberg isn't free and good players aren't cheap.

His one skill is scoring points. We already have that covered. He fills no need and costs money we actually need for an actual upgrade.
Bro why are you still talking about things you clearly can’t comprehend? He isn’t free in the sense Katz will still have to pay him but he is completely free if he’s washed and we need the cap space. Stop embarrassing yourself.
