Confirmed Trade: [EDM/BOS/NJD] Trent Frederic (75%), Max Jones, & Petr Hauser to EDM; Max Wanner, 2025 STL 2nd (from EDM), & 2026 EDM 4th to BOS; Shane LaChance to NJD

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Frederic isn't this tough guy that people make him out to be even though he throws hands once in a while. With that said, he does add some solid depth to EDM if he can pick up his game and start scoring again. Time will tell.

I'm thrilled with this return as a Bruins fan though.
We didn't bring him in to be a fighter. As long as he plays with some grit, throws some hits, and will occasionally get a little bit greasy, he'll bring what we need him to. We have Correy Perry of all people doing that now, and while he's willing to do it, he's older than Jesus and shouldn't be expected to be the only forward pushing back and adding some grittiness.

There are no credible rumors the team is seeking a goalie (the exact opposite actually). We can definitely criticize them for that while prioritizing yet another middle/bottom six forward on a team loaded with them over a G or top four D.
I dunno, at least Frederic looks to bring something that we are missing. It's not like we have brought in another aging scoring winger who isn't scoring. I'm fine with the addition. I kind of wish we had the space to bring in a 3C so we could shift Henrique to the wing, but we're so full on the wings now that I already don't see how we can fit them all in.

New line predictions, when healthy:

J. Skinner - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Arvidsson
Kane - Nuge - Frederic
Janmark - Henrique - Brown/Perry

Kapanen might hit the waiver wire again soon.

Best of luck to Trent, Bruins got a solid return, IMO.

TF will barely drop the gloves unless absolutely forced

He is not an enforcer by no means

Glad to see him gone however wish him good luck
We don’t need an enforcer. We need an energy player that can score more than 0 goals when not stapled to a superstar lol

Neither of those players are that physical anymore, and both will be coming off injuries. It’s a high risk low reward move
Kane not physical? Yes when he was ailed with all of those injuries.

A guy doesn’t have to Kronwall someone to be physical IMO.

Return sounds about right for Frederic. Essentially a 2nd and a 4th. Having a rough year, but he's better than the scoring numbers suggest. Good 3rd line player on a cup contender.
Why not...
#where my f goalie Stan...
#gotta catch em all...

Interesting Oilers would use assets on a bottom 6 fwd instead of prioritizing goalie or dman.
Theres just no goalies out there available thats a significant upgrade over what they have. They most likely will go after a dman too but honestly the d has done better than their forward group this season. They are last in the league in hits so Frederics physical play is well needed.

On the contrary.

Nearly every goalie is a significant upgrade over what we have.

There's quite a bit of smoke regarding Gibson and Binnington.

Not after theyve had a couple weeks with Schwartz.. Gibson is a wild card, injury prone and have been bad for like 4 seasons straight before this one. Binnington I like more, obviously a gamer and a winner but very up and down aswell.

Uh so Frederick to take Henirique's spot?
I think they will for sure try him next to Draisaitl first. None of his wingers ever work..The hope would be he is a Podkolzin that can actually score.

Bowman, as usual, rearranging the deck chairs in 3rd class. Some fans loving the new look even though it didn't fix the leaks in the ship's stern.

I'll let Oilers fans disabuse me if I am incorrect, but I wonder if this deal isn't designed to help their forecheck by shaking up their bottom six. Have they missed Foegele and McLeod?

Frederic has all the makings to be a premier power forward in this league. The problem is that version of Trent Frederic only shows up 10 games a year

There's a ton of fan-smoke. Not much team smoke.

They miss Foegele and McLeod's speed for sure. More forechecking is good, and I do think adding that element to the 3rd line should help.

Assuming Frederic can competently take a spot in the bottom six, this is an excellent move for a cap strapped team. They can bury a higher contract from an under-performing player, and it gives them additional cash to make another, more important move.

Running pretty thin on trade chips, though. The cupboards have been getting barer, so if they don't make the right move for a goalie, they'll likely have blown their last chance at a cup.
