Remember those fantasy pairings of the Twin Towers of Marincin/Gernat a few years back?

Yeeeaaahhh...

Anyway,

Really like this deal. Whether these moves pan out or not, all I can say is it's so pleasant to see a GM in charge who actually has clarity on what kind of team he wants to build, and stays on task even if he's not as quick on the trigger as some fans would like to see.

With MacT, it always felt like he would do one reactionary move after another in a desperate attempt to make *something* work right.

I'll take him in front of the net over Letestu everyday of the week and 50 times on Sunday.

Love TSN panel's reaction to the trade :shakehead

What was their reaction? I haven't seen a single thing about this trade on TSN.

I loved HF's reaction. Oilers won a trade, so naturally every second post is about how the ultra competitive Maroon is going to mail it in and play himself out of the NHL because Oilerz sux.

OK, I'm pleasantly surprised by this one and always saw Maroon as playing kind of a Dustin Penner lite role in Anaheim(not the same hands obviously) and being big and hard to play against. Usually good in the Playoffs.

Can't understand Ducks making this deal going into playoffs.

I'm pleased with this, is there anything I'm missing. Did somebody feed me happy pills?;)

LW: Hall(6'1'' 201lbs), Pouliot(6'3'' 200lbs), Maroon(6'3 230lbs), Korpi(6'1'' 193lbs), Gaz(6'4'' 225lbs)

RW: Eberle(5'11'' 183lbs), Kassian(6'3'' 217lbs), Yak(5'11'' 195lbs), Cracknell(6'2'' 210lbs), Pak(6'1'' 215lbs)

Definitely don't have a shortage of size on the wings right now.

I was just thinking he sounds like a poor mans Dustin Penner. Big man with decent playmaking skills who is good along the boards. Not as prolific a scorer as Penner, but a more consistently physical player.

I wonder how he'd look on a line with Yakupov. Might be able to get Yak some pucks to get his shot off.

I can't figure this out either. I guess they just wanted to unload his contract, as he's on the books for two more years.

Left wing depth. Awesome. Absolutely awesome deal for Edmonton. Gernat was never gonna make it. Still have a couple of extra thirds.

Maroon, Pardy and Cracknell are a great start to changing the team's makeup.

Comments about speed and ability…can't keep up with McD and like and plays on the 4th line. Some truth to it, I just don't care for the hometown rhetoric and bias.

They had to mop up their Nylander drool so couldn't spend much time on it. :shakehead

Dude's having a down year. So in that sense he's a 4th liner.

But he had 29 points in 62 games and than 34 points in 71 games. That's not 4th line numbers.

Pretty lame. Everything TSN said about the Oilers has been negative today. Not a single nice word, just mocking early in the day, and lame analysis. I'm getting sick of TSN. Aside from the few decent people there, it's full of ****holes.

I've been bought out. Anything could happen in these posts now;)

Strange times, whats this feeling all warm and fuzzy at something the Oilers do? First Kassian, now Maroon. No Schultz, no Purcell.

Almost starting to look like a hockey lineup.

Problem with Yakupov is that if he isn't putting up points he contributes basically nothing.

Maroon can at the very least provide a physical component with puck possession.
