Just for fun I'd like to see a Maroon - McDavid - Kassian line.

That would be a truly terrifying line for defenders. Two guys who will punish you every chance they get and a guy who will make you look foolish.

So in his interview he admitted he was bummed about not getting to take another run at the cup, which is understandable.

But he also said he views this as a chance to prove himself as an NHL player

I can live with that

Other than Reinhart deal (which is still up in air and probably influenced by previous guys as it was his first move) Chiarelli has been killing it this year

I hated the Griffin trade but I'm looking pass it now. The OBC probably had some kind of influence on that trade. Chia has been doing a good job lately. So that's all it matters

Two guys throwing up on the ice while McDavid glares at them for not keeping up.

OK, I'm pleasantly surprised by this one and always saw Maroon as playing kind of a Dustin Penner lite role in Anaheim(not the same hands obviously) and being big and hard to play against. Usually good in the Playoffs.

Can't understand Ducks making this deal going into playoffs.

I'm pleased with this, is there anything I'm missing. Did somebody feed me happy pills?;)

Haha that's funny. As soon as I saw the deal, I thought about your disappointment, or lack of excitement, about Chia's moves yesterday and how you wanted to see actual NHL players brought in instead of more and more picks.

I liked what I saw of Maroon's game when he played the Oil this season. Decent hands, killer on the boards and a big body that was hard to control at times. I think he could really find a place as a net front presence on one of our PP lines. Totally worth the risk in my mind. Solid move.
Edit: Before I even saw the retained salary. Even bigger fan now.

Lol they have a rubber band attached to each other so they can just slingshot each other up and down the ice. Half the work twice the speed.

I'm not too concerned with the whole "too slow to keep up" being a fast team that uses speed to score off the rush hasn't exactly worked for us. They will be able to wear defenders down, retrieve pucks and create space for our skilled guys.

I fail to see any downside. With the retention if Maroon is completely useless they can bury him and only have him count for .575 against the cap.

or if he is decent pad his stats with mcdavid and then trade him for a 2nd at the deadline next year......asset management

Best part about winning a trade with a division opponent is that it is like a 4 point game. Not only is that opponent made a bit weaker, you get a big strong at their expense

^Who cares? There was a quote today on Twitter from a hockey scout I believe that was somewhere along the lines of if you are a leader in blocked shots, that's great, but it means you spend an inordinate amount of time in your own zone

One aspect of this I like is Maroon stands up for his teammates. In the past we have had a lack of that on the Oilers, and both Kass and Maroon help that aspect tremendously.

Chia has done good this trade deadline between trades and extensions.

Having three 3rds and two 5ths make losing a 4th pretty unnoticeable too.

Package our 3rd and one of the fifths to say Chicago, LA or Wash(Stanley cup finalists) for their 2nd which should only be a 5 or 6 spot difference max, turn it around and shovel it to Boston for the Chiarelli compensation.
