Wow, superb job Gillis.

I love Gillis, he keeps us in the fight every year for the cup.

What an awesome deal. The fact that they could get him at that price while only buying up to his age 33 year is pretty incredible.

Pretty clear eddy wanted to stay here by signing that deal. Awesome

Yup, the dollar amount is excellent, locked up 6 years of unrestricted free agency and the deal ends before Edler should noticeably decline. A perfect storm.

With the top 4 on defense and Schneider locked up longterm Gillis can focus solely on the forward corps. Which is oustanding when you have the Sedins, Kesler and Burrows in the mix. Bring in 1 more impact forward, re-sign the Sedins and this team should be a cup contender for at least the next 4-5 years.

I can't imagine there's another team out there with a top 4 locked up for as long, or with as much quality.

This is the low end of what I was hoping for, in terms of cap hit for Edler. To be honest I expected about 5.75M per, so this is a good signing.

On an aside, I think this is the Year of the Ballard - and that we will all be pushing for Bieksa to be dealt by year end (I have a feeling he is going to revert to the bad Bieksa this year).

Great deal. Don't know why I expected any worse with Gillis as the GM. I was afraid we'd lose Edler.

That defence. Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa, and Garrison all signed long-term now. Love it!

Another good signing in Gillis' time here.

Very happy Edler is my favorite D man.

Top 4 for the future is set!

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison

Schneider

Time to build up on some talented forwards to make this top four defense and top goalie worth having.

With Tanev & Corrado coming in the pipe line we'll have those 3 RH Dmen we all talk about.

Not only that, but Tanev gives the team excellent security when injury strikes the top 4...

Hamhuis injured-

Garrison Bieksa
Edler tanev

IMO the top 4 looks good, regardless of who is injured. Garrison should be able to pair up well with Bieksa and Tanev seems like he could play with anyone. Love the mix in the top 5 - still see Ballard as the #6, though maybe he turns things around.
