Luke was good, I kind of wanna see them keep the 11/7 into Carolina but I'm worried about tiring out the guys up front. It may help the matchups in Carolina by double shifting guys into favorable match ups.

This is actually why I want them to go 12/6 next game. Can't go 11/7 this entire series lol, but I think it makes sense to do it on the road.

Dougie had 8 PPG and 20 PPA assists this year for 28 PP points. He's a fine PP player.

Eventually, maybe Luke and Nemec take the spots. I think Nemec would be a very good PP QB with his passing, poise and IQ. But for now? Dougie is good there.

Yea he's a fine pp player, but he's not a good guy to have back there on the point.

I like and root for Vitek but….if not for two posts and a crossbar, he could have let in in 7 goals. The postgame show on TBS even called him out and speculated there may be a tough decision to make for game 4. It may be somewhat unusual to revert back to Schmid considering the win today but I’m convinced it’s the right call. Most of the goals the first two games I did not even deem Schmid at fault. We completely hung the kid out to dry. I’ll obviously fully support whoever is in net but I feel much more relaxed with Schmid is in there.

Now…onto the game. Meier-Hughes-Mercer line was fantastic. Hughes was an obvious force and I thought Mercer may have had his best playoff game to date. Nice to see Timo get the monkey off his back and hopefully he heats up.

- Another superb game from Marino.

-McLeod has been a man on a mission. Credit where it’s due. He’s proven me wrong this year and am happy to eat crow.

- Besides the gaffe on the PP which I actually think was partially Dougie’s fault, Luke was awesome. You can see the impact the young man has on a game. He is just what the doctor ordered for our struggles in the transition game.

- I can’t believe I’m writing this but I think Smith had a really strong game.

- Smart move going 11/7 here but it’s not really sustainable.

- Bratt was noticeable out there and had a terrific shift on Nico’s goal. Happy to see that for both. Maybe it gets them going.

On the PP you mean? I think he's very good there. The only downside I see is that his speed hurts him if ever there's a counter attack. That's where Luke and Nemec will help soon.

I didn't even notice this initially, but Severson was way far back on that pp where Palat scored. Good on him. Graves probably would've been in front of the net

Line match ups are such a key in this series as opposed to against the rangers.

Luke Hughes was great and he takes this team to another level with wheat he brings. His second assist was so good. To break down the box and open up the one timer was an high IQ hockey play that only an elite skater like Luke could make.

He never comes out of the lineup again.

He's slow and not very creative. Severson has been way better as a pp qb.

It's a toss up right now in the playoffs, but starting next season I'd go 2 dman on pp1, with Hamilton and Luke on it. It would be silly to take Hamilton off the 1st pp completely imo.

I'm leaning towards doing that now though. I agree with maybe thinking of going 2 dman with how dangerous Carolina is shorthanded.

New Jersey will be no easy out. The Hurricanes will have to deal with this us and likely lose at this point. I am sincere, they are goi g to fold like cheap lawn chairs. Luke Hughes was a game changer they will have to deal with.

We are moving on to the Leafs folks.

Don't be so sure about that

I agree Seves is good on the PP, no denying that, but the results speak for themselves for Dougie on the PP this year. He's not fast though, I agree, for sure.

But yeah, anyways I doubt that it'll be an issue going forward if he regresses with who we have in the stable.

It'd be a real shame if someone took a sign with this photo and put it behind the Carolina bench for Game 4. :sarcasm:

That would also spread out the wealth a little with a "PP1 worthy" forward on PP2. I don't mind that idea.

Honestly don't even think this move takes great skating, but what it does take is a fantastic awareness of space, which Luke appears to have. I don't think most players would've kept skating into traffic like that.

100%. Most guys would've backed up and set up for the PP I think.
