That was arguably the best period we've had since game 2 against Tampa. Besides a massive defensive breakdown on their goal, they kept any chances to a minimum, and put up so many chances themselves.

The Matthews line looked amazing, and for the first time maybe since the playoffs started I didn't hate the 4th line. Tavares and Nylander don't work. It just doesn't work. Nylander needs the puck to be effective, and Tavares (and to a lesser extent Jarnkrok) have no ability or desire to give it to him. With how good the Matthews line was, I'm switching Nylander and Accari. I just have no idea how you can keep those two together. They do not fit.

Also Giordano looks completely washed. Liljegren not playing his best hockey, but Giordano looks like he's lost 5 steps and 10 IQ points in the last month.

That third pairing whether it's Lily with Gio or Holl with Gio is really struggling. He's a major concern right now. Agree totally about the Tavares and Nylander combination...it just doesn't work. But we've known this for a long time, when do we look at the coach and wonder he's up to the task of winning this round.

Gio made an awful play shortly before the end with that pass right through the middle that could have ended very badly for us. He cant skate well...ok fine...but then you must be able to think and make smarter plays out there.

Gio maybe needs a rest but I still think he brings a lot.

I don't know the solution but I prefer Lilly over Holl.

Gus I'd try to be honest but then you'd have to switch the pairings and the top 4 are good overall... so what do you do.

You keep switching out guys who have a bad game. Just hope Gio gets that next gear.

When you can't skate, you start compensate other ways
He built his game all his life on skating, now he doesn't know waht to do without it

Tavares was so bad 5v5 that period and Jarnkrok makes the word vanilla an understatement. Not sure what Nylander can do.

Tavares has been absolutely terrible on 5on5 hockey entire season not sure what keefe expects out of JT's line 5on5
