Near perfect period except for John Tavares falling on his ass.

A saw there would have been nice because it was just the 4th shot but again if Tavares doesn't fall on his ass it doesn't happen.

Beyond that great period

Gotta keep shooting the puck. Bob won't save everything. Just gotta keep sending pucks towards him and something will go in.

That was arguably the best period we've had since game 2 against Tampa. Besides a massive defensive breakdown on their goal, they kept any chances to a minimum, and put up so many chances themselves.

The Matthews line looked amazing, and for the first time maybe since the playoffs started I didn't hate the 4th line. Tavares and Nylander don't work. It just doesn't work. Nylander needs the puck to be effective, and Tavares (and to a lesser extent Jarnkrok) have no ability or desire to give it to him. With how good the Matthews line was, I'm switching Nylander and Accari. I just have no idea how you can keep those two together. They do not fit.

Also Giordano looks completely washed. Liljegren not playing his best hockey, but Giordano looks like he's lost 5 steps and 10 IQ points in the last month.

Lundqvist has some good pointers sammy on that goal could've been saved it and played it better.

However man Gio's stickcheck is brutal of late, I think he's squeezing it a bit too much.

Don't know if Bob is in their head or what but drop the globetrotters hockey. Infuriating when they play like this - less is more.
When you give the leafs space or the feeling they are better they go and do this. Its good when it works but it does seem infuriating when you don't light up a team.

The games are a lot more competitive than the 1st series which had lots of lopsided results.

High pace, physical and lots of action, what is not to like so far?

Matthews and Nylander I think are on the precipice of bursting out IMO. Both look dialed in.

Gio needs to sit, we have a plethora of defensemen in the back for a reason. Bring in Gustafsson give the weary bones some rest. Veteran respect be damned.

Tavares is one of the worst 5v5 guys on this team, look what Marner did when pairing with our captain.
Pretty much. But i don't blame him as much as Keefe(and the man that got him here)..The coach should be able to see the obvious and then give him 2 players that can play better defensively(that way at least we can balance things out). I'd rather have 2 Willy Nylander's(especially at 6 or is it 7 million?)...He can be way more effective offensively(and even defensively when he actually tries) compared to JT.

Gio is a major liability. You can't give someone that much time and space with less than 20 seconds on the clock

Do we bring in Gus next game?

if I was the coach I would. I wouldn't give a flying F about the "vet" or their "ego".

I get paid to win games, if you are not contributing to winning games you are not playing. Period!

Agreed. I'd like to see them try Nylander on the third line and spread out all three of your star players that like to hold the puck.

Not sure what to do with Gio, but woof. Love that guy and he's given us a lot, but I don't know how much more rope you can give him.
