Young core, a 50 point turnaround, most points in franchise history for the team AND a player, a playoff round win for the first time in over 10 years.

HFBoards answer? Blow it up. Hamilton sucks, Bratt sucks. LMFAO. Never change HFBoards, overreactions left and right.

I'm frustrated at how these first 2 games have gone, but man am I glad I witnessed this core group's ascension and first playoff round. There's a process to this, with more guys to come, and it's only the beginning.

Hopefully we can keep this in mind if the Devils end up losing in the 2nd round here.
No , I agree with what you first said . We have the core and are having an amazing season
Its not over yet.
Need to supplement the roster better. Now we know. We had no clue before this year as we hadn’t played a playoff game(s) until now. Now Fitz can see first hand what we need to change.
All the past cup winners had to figure it out by learning the hard way.
None of our elite guys are having a great playoffs but that’s not to say get rid of them all. Need those guys to win enough to get into the playoffs.
Id say keep Meier for sure . Obviously Jack Nico and Palat is signed for few more years and need a player like him .

So just because they had this amazing improvement that means we can’t point out that moving in from Bratt might be a move that makes us better going forward? That makes no sense.
I did mention in another post that they might decide to move on from him, it's a possibility and might make the team better. Would I bet on it making the team better, especially right away? No, because I doubt we're getting a similar player back for him. But it is entirely possible.

My desire to commit to Bratt and Meier as core franchise pieces going forward isn't super high right now.
They need to commit to both. Meier has been great. Bratt not so much, but good luck replacing his production to even get back to the playoffs if you let him walk.

He hasn’t been a part of the solution in this series. You can’t roast Vitek for the first two games against the Rangers and then let Schmid off the hook for these two
Ok I'll even it out both GOALIES need the team to play better in front of them....Akira made bigger saves in this game then Anderson has all series....He is not the problem

But do we need a similar player back, especially if we get more improvement from the other young guns? I think we need a different element to replace him.

I'd pick Meier over Bratt because he's at least somewhat physical and a pest. He's a better goal scorer too .. Although you wouldn't know it watching this year's playoffs.

Nobody is saying to blow anything up, Fitz does have two major contract negotiations coming up this offseason though, and neither are being helped by both players no showing
If he has to choose 1, I'm thinking Meier, other than the fact that he gave up a whole lot, Meier brings a new dimension to our top-6. Also, while he hasn't scored so far in the playoffs, I've felt he's been pretty effective overall.

Hamilton isn't the fastest, no one is claiming he is, but he still produces offence a ton and has been one of the best D-men in the league this season. And since we're talking about the playoffs somewhat, if Dougie doesn't score the OT goal in Game 3 (set up by Bratt ironically enough), there's a big chance we end up losing the series. How are we just going to brush all this off?

Bratt hasn't been producing these playoffs and they might get rid of him, but he's still a fine player and it'd hurt to lose him.

That's great. He did score a game 3 winner. With that said, he is slow and gets beat way too much. Shouldn't give passes for crap play because a player did one great thing.

If Wood scored the goal, would you be saying he's great and we need him?

Too much "look at one thing someone did".

There will be the home crowd noise and what not for game 3 but I'd say Vanaceck should get the start.

That's not a bad idea, what are you thinking? Any ideas (not being sarcastic btw, I'm legitimately interested in what you. have to say about this)?

Haven’t given it much thought tbh. Need to look at who’s available and if there are any situations around the keague Fitz can take advantage of.

I don't think we keep both. Their production hasn't been good enough to justify their AAV demands, and we shouldn't gamble on both doing better long term.

Went to isles board to check - seems they had similar experience w the canes - very physical (picked on softer players), made a few high sticks that went uncalled, and hid behind refs
