I'm frustrated at how these first 2 games have gone, but man am I glad I witnessed this core group's ascension and first playoff round. There's a process to this, with more guys to come, and it's only the beginning.

Hopefully we can keep this in mind if the Devils end up losing in the 2nd round here.

Hischier , Hamilton , Bratt and Meier. When you combine all 4 there are only 2 goals total. 1 is from a defensman and the other is an empty netter. None of these 4 have been awful but they need to just flat out score a damn goal. No team can make a legit run when their star players slump that badly. Thankfully we have a good team and we got this far by playing like one. The big issue is when we lose it has been ugly. We aren't going to have a chance to win many games if these guys don't play well , period.

This is the reason we have looked awful these first 2 games. No goals. Our defense and goaltending could be better but we can't sustain pressure or finish anything. Hurricanes are shutting this team down so badly on the transition. All for us to give that slug Jordan Staal a breakaway goal. This isn't the Rangers series. The Hurricanes actually know how to play defense and not rely on a goalie. Ruff has no answer for both games. The Schmid run he was on is far in the past.

Maybe this will be reverse Rangers and they can tie it up at home .... But Canes are just tougher. Giving the Devils a tough lesson. They've learned before. Don't think that'll change but Canes aren't going to wilt like the Rangers did when we turned the series around. Could be too little too late.
