Who is happy to be watching Panthers hockey in May and probably all the way up the 16th game 7th?
Raise your hand, you, all the way in the back, if you do!
I'm a big Eurovision fan and I'll be honest, I thought to myself: "Well, at least I'll have Eurovision to look forward to when the Panthers lose in the first round so it won't sting as much"

Well... that's next week and we're definitely gonna be playing games.
Best thing? Eurovision is scheduled on Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday while Panthers hockey is on Wednesday-Friday-Sunday, feels like I won the lottery.

Beats watching the entry draft with no picks! Whoo!
If there is one thing that bothered me a great deal in previous years was to see Playoffs games going on and me, having zero interest on watching these games since the Panthers didn't make it or were eliminated in the first round.
It feels awesome!

Dubas changing the lineup?

not sure if this jack han piece was posted earlier but it's a nice run-down of the ways our new style has created issues for teams.

han also emphasizes how much the team game in different areas of the ice ultimately impacts what ends up happening in front of your own net.

How to Fix TOR's Netfront Defense?
Good analysis. On the second goal, Knies really played poorly, he’s still got lots to learn even if he scored right after on the same shift.

Don’t know how many articles I’ve seen the last few days telling me how the Leafs are much better than the Panthers, how they should have one game #1, that they gift-wrapped it to the Cats and how they’re gonna come back next game with a vengeance…

The last two on the Athletic for example, one suggests Matthews and co. can/should exploit our biggest weakness (spoiler alert: the columnist has OUR WHOLE DEFENSIVE-UNIT as our main weakness), I believe Boston believed that too…

And the other article, I will only give you the title: "The Tkachuk-stopper ? Jake McCabe’s role for Maple Leafs looms large vs Panthers", and they go on and on about how he was a great add for the Laughs, and is a great shutdown defenseman, all of this while also stating that his expected goals at 5v5 was under 43% during Bolts series…

Oh… Did I say that they also stated about our d-corp, how bad the Montour-Staal pairing was sitting at ONLY 40% of expected goals during the series against the Bruins…

Am I missing something here ? :D

uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but he's looking at the natural statrick heat map wrong...swapped sides. Anyways, film interesting analysis. Another really good listen is the PDOcast, they did an analysis on the Kraken and Panthers forecheck in round 1.

Lines up with what we've been seeing, really aggressive forecheck which forces the other team to make errors, but also increases risk for odd man rushes the other way when things go wrong. Also just how critical Bennett is to the way Panthers play, he's the driving force for our team. If Barkov can go in on the forecheck as hard as Bennett does, then we can really have something going.

Crazy stat time. In the regular season, Bruins had only 14% failed exit attempts. In round 1 against the Panthers? 26%. I continue to find it funny when people keep talking about how Bruins kept on making uncharacteristic errors turning over the puck, without acknowledging the Panthers creating those errors.

Hopefully we can keep up the pressure on the Leafs. Samsonov looked beatable. Gio looked slow. Tavares, our forever nemesis, got eaten up by the Tkachuk line and had to be moved down. But...the Leaf skilled guys looked really dangerous and we had to get bailed by Bob several times.

Whatever happens, just happy to still be cheering these guys into May.

I disagree on his last point where all Toronto players collapse on their own net, he sees that as disadvantageous, the Canes do that all the time and very effectively.

There was a lot of talk here after game 1 that the leafs would swap out Gio for game 2. A lot of talk that he might be too slow.

If the focus is Tkachuk for them, then Bennett and Verhaegee are going to be roaming free, we have many ways to score,
It obvious to me that Toronto problem is our forechecking and puck retrieval, many scoring sequences started from there during the Boston series.

If Panthers cutdown the penalties by half,we will beat them again, when we are on 5 vs 5, I like our chances alot.

I think Toronto wins tonight, they are going to come out hard and mean. I have a feeling this series goes to seven.
I think 90 percent of the general public feels that way. I like to go with the contrarian view. When ya got them down don’t let ‘em up.

Got a feeling cats are going to take this one. The NHL tried to feed them an opening goal with B2B Power Plays and they couldn't get it done. Thought Toronto played well last game, but they were kept to the outside quite a bit. Think Cats go up 2-0 and we see a melt down from Toronto Fans.

There is always those experts that categorize the other team loses explained as errors they committed and opportunities lost, especially the Toronto media, it is never about why was the errors forced or why the opportunities were unsuccessful, never give credit to the other team, the truth is too inconvenient for their audience.

Limit penalties and perhaps get more in favour and I'm feeling good. Not worried at all about our 5 on 5 play. Leafs jokers really thought we played trash but somehow won. Samsonov made some huge saves too, we easily could have had more. But no, we only scored off lucky plays apparently. Also the review after the fact penalty was a joke, I've seen plenty of our guys get high sticked and are bleeding with a missed call and no after review. Toronto acting like that sort of review happens every game. Oh well, play our game and win - let's go!
