What exactly is the S conference?

Stanley
Cup
Quarter
Finals

Although, that's not true

A mod should change the title to ECQF before Elvis is run out of the building by an angry mob

Updated title, hopefully my buns aren't toasted.

Well done with GDT.

One small update needed: the Rangers total stat shows 2-2-1 instead of 2-1-1 and away stats show 0-2-1 instead of 0-1-1. Since in play-offs the 3rd column is irrelevant I'd prefer to see 2-2 and 0-2, respectively.

Those stats were snipped form NHL.com (see: credits). Unfortunately, I can't really edit it. If I do another one of these, I'll make my own graphics with more sensible stats!

I'm almost afraid to win this one.

If we lose tonight and then come home and win, I could see us stealing a game 7.

If we win tonight and then come home with a chance to move on and blow it, I can't see us recovering from that to win a game 7.

Am I the only one laughing about the Tom Wilson thread on the Caps board? He's the 2nd coming of Jesus to some of them, others are more reserved. I get that he's a shiny new prospect, much akin to Kreider last year for us. But this kid is coming from the OHL, and they are thinking he could take Clowe or Asham in a fight, really?

i dont want Wolski or Crabb in the lineup being former Rangers property, they might score if they play tongiht..... on Wilson i doubt he gets much ice time if he plays.. i actually wanted the Rangers to draft him over Brady Skjei....

"A goalie is only as good as the team in front of him" - Mike Richter

Richter was also one of the most humble and classy players that there ever was, and I'm thankful to have met him a few times. He is being gracious there and sharing credit with the team in front of him.

That quote, while maybe true at the extremes (i.e. a good goalie with a god awful team will have their #s suffer), isn't necessarily the case come playoffs / on playoff teams. You want to win a cup, your goalie is going to need to be huge in the playoffs.

That '94 team that won the cup was great -- but they don't win that cup without Richter putting up an insane performance in the playoffs.

EDIT: Here are Richter's relevant stats:

Career #s: 0.904 SV %; 2.89 GAA.

93-94 Regular Season: 0.910 SV %; 2.57 GAA

93-94 Playoffs: 0.921 SV %; 2.07 GAA

...Also, the only other run to the ECF this team has had since 94 -- 96-97 playoffs: 0.932 SV %; 2.11 GAA.

Absolutely. Majority of the time in hockey he is right, but the exception to the overall rule are the teams/goalies that win cups.

Richter was someone who bailed them out so many times, and kept them in it when it all could have came crashing down. Which is why he is ONE of the main reasons we won in the end.

The team has to play good in front of Lundqvist, but he will have to be his elite self for us to win it all.

He will.

Ill gladly take a win tonight

Those numbers are ridiculous considering it was just before the start/at the very start of the dead puck era.

I predict a goal from one or two of the following Asham, Boyle, Brassard, Callahan, Clowe, Dorsett, Hagelin, Nash, Pyatt, Richards, Stepan, Zuccarello, MDZ, Eminger, Girardi, McDonagh, Moore, Staal, Stralman, Lundqvist, Biron.

GTFO with this nonsense. Impossible.

He also has Nash scoring a PP goal.

Boyle, Asham, Nash and DZ are picking up points and we are netting the empty one.

One step at a time, friends.

The unofficial song of HFNYR 2013 Playoffs:

Rangers win 8-2, Lundqvist gets a hat trick or gets 5 assists.

They would be 0-3 in D.C. So they're just going break through in a game 7? Sorry, but I don't see that.
Home ice is holding up in this series thus far.

If the Rangers want to win the series, they have to take the next two.

so how many shifts till Tom Wilson gets his first NHL goal or point?? it usually happens vs NYR??? :sarcasm:

are the Rangers the only team in the playoffs now without a road win??? Rangers have to win on the road tonight....

im gonna say 4-2 Rangers

Caps take 2-0 lead into 3rd and then Rangers score 4 goals in the 3rd..

im gonna guess goals by Brassard, Clowe, Stepan and McDonagh

This is probably old news, but I didn't realize that OV is possibly hurt. Interesting that Nash and OV are possibly playing pretty banged up.

Unless it is just an excuse for Nash and OV not really being major difference makers in this series...

Time for Nash to step up and play like an elite player, they need him to be good tonight... If they could pull this one out tonight, maaaaaaaan...
