Even Hughes and Bratt, their games are very much skating oriented. I think Hughes is better then Bratt then finding space and slowing the game down then Bratt, but still, neither guy has really shown to be good PP guys.

Not bad, but not good.
agreed but Jack can still create a ton with shooting/passing/entries zones

the other four guys just don't fit. Bratt/Nico offers no threat as shooters, neither are good at finding open space without the puck
Hamilton just rips pucks, unlike Fox who's an actual QB.

we have no threat as a bumper man or one-timers from the flanks

it's just let Jack skate though defenses then fire a long ranged shot and pray for the best

That was a carbon copy of what the Rags are going to do to win this series but that was the worst offensive game we’ve played since Winnipeg

seems like our players don't fit well together in the PP

Bratt and Jack are very similar
Nico is terrible on the PP, he simply has no hands to be effective there and isn't good at screening or tipping shots, only good on the dot
Hamilton gonna succeed as long as you feed him for one-timers, terrible as a QB and passer
Meier still hasn't been used in the spot he's familiar with

Spot on.

There is no way in the world that I would talk to the media after this one. Ruff should shut the doors and they all should sneak out.
This is one of those times where Ruff should channel his inner Torts.

Reporter : "What happened tonight?"

Ruff : "You saw what happened. Next stupid question"

It’s game 2. There’s probably going to be little to no changes. I expect the same lineup. Schmid isn’t coming in and neither is Luke

They were saying it during the Toronto / Tampa game.

Poise, plus patience plus talent. Esp on the power play.

We have the talent and showed none of the first two. We didn't get shots to the net, we rushed everything, esp our passes, and played right into their hands.

As soon as they got ahead we pressed.

Next game will be different

1. The Devils playoff rookies got the ripped off hard. They know what to expect now.
2. The Rangers didn't look unstoppable and for a good chunk of the game we looked great.
3. She-Stork is not a God and Hughes showed that he can bleed.
4. Relying on blocked shots isn't a great winning strategy for the Rangers. Someone is going to get hurt and its a tiring job.
5. Devils had some bad puck luck

This isn't the most unexpected outcome, We all knew that a lot of players were going to need to adjust to playoff hockey.

Devils definitely need to figure out the powerplay and perhaps Schmid should be in goal for game two.
The goaltending question is a big one. I can’t see going away from Vitek yet. He’s the guy who got you here. Seems to me we show confidence in him, if we expect him to have confidence, and not dump him for a rookie here.

But for gosh sakes, tie up Kreider on the PK. Our penalty kill simply must improve. Maybe insert Shara, who’s been good on the PK this year. Smith too.

It's times like these I'd like to have access to the Game 1 GDT in the 2012 ECF to make me rationalize things lmfao.

I don't think that's applicable here. That was a vet heavy team that was already super deep into the playoffs.

There isn't a frame of reference for this team in the playoffs.

They have to write their own narrative starting Thursday.
