1. The Devils playoff rookies got the ripped off hard. They know what to expect now.
2. The Rangers didn't look unstoppable and for a fair chunk of the game we looked great.
3. She-Stork is not a God and Hughes showed that he can bleed.
4. Relying on blocked shots isn't a great winning strategy for the Rangers. Someone is going to get hurt and its a tiring job.
5. Devils had some bad puck luck

This isn't the most unexpected outcome, We all knew that a lot of players were going to need to adjust to playoff hockey.

Devils definitely need to figure out the powerplay and perhaps Schmid should be in goal for game two.

I know we don't like Biz around here, but he was right.

We weren't ready to play for puck drop and they're also saying TImo was a ghost, which I agree with.

So was Bratt

Hughes was noticeable at times, so I'm glad he got the goal to break the shutout.

Hughes tried to and almost split the D right before the Chytil empty netter. That would have been sweet, but unfortunately it didn't turn out.
Tried splitting the D a bunch, almost had a couple, but more often it resulted in a turnover leading to the puck moving the other way.

He isn't wrong and is the core of the issue tonight. They were not ready.

They didn't game plan properly. They didn't come out with enough fire. Gave this one to them

Well this game was everything feared going in. PP was bad, theirs put the puck in the net on every PP opportunity. Vanecek wasn’t good, their goalie was. The players you were worried about taking dumb/bad penalties took dumb/bad penalties.

I think they need to have more of a shooting mentality to start the game.

Jack and Nico were really the only ones that showed up....but that said, they also didn't produce...

and if those guys don't produce this will be a very short series.

Some of the Rangers goals were arsey. Twice deflected shots.

Everything went right for them.
