Credit to the Rangers tonight: their PK was good, they weathered our surges well, and Shesterkin was solid when he needed to be.

I don't think they will be able to replicate that 3 more times, and still like our chances for the series.

Yup .. even our best game may not win this one. Maybe not the worst thing to have a stinker while their goalie was super hot.

I wonder if we see Sharangovich in for next game with how embarrassingly bad the PK was tonight?

We literally got scored on EVERY penalty tonight.

I know, I know, I'm counting a high stick that didn't count, but we've literally been scored on every PK.

And we got outshot 3-0 on the PP and went 0 for 4.

Both even strength goals were not good on Vitek. I need another look at the Tarasenko goal, but the third goal STUNK and was definitely bad.

It wasn't his fault on the PK not being able to stop two tips in front, but the even strength goals on him were not good.
Nico and mercer see to be victimized on pk. Do you suggest taking one of them out

Thing is, PP is a big problem, and Hughes is a big part of the PP.

Same goes for Nico Bratt Meier and Hamilton.
seems like our players don't fit well together in the PP

Bratt and Jack are very similar
Nico is terrible on the PP, he simply has no hands to be effective there and isn't good at screening or tipping shots, only good on the dot
Hamilton gonna succeed as long as you feed him for one-timers, terrible as a QB and passer
Meier still hasn't been used in the spot he's familiar with

If they end up losing the series, I honestly hope it’s goaltending that is the biggest glaring mismatch. Because then it hopefully would force action on it.
Would it? They clearly don’t want to spend money on goaltending (which is probably a good thing) and they can justify Schmid in the 1A with Vitek in the 1B long term

PK definitely looks like a strategy issue more than an execution one. Just completely passive while also letting a guy stand in front of your goalie untouched.

And still managed to block nothing.
