I wonder if we see Sharangovich in for next game with how embarrassingly bad the PK was tonight?

We literally got scored on EVERY penalty tonight.

I know, I know, I'm counting a high stick that didn't count, but we've literally been scored on every PK.

And we got outshot 3-0 on the PP and went 0 for 4.

Both even strength goals were not good on Vitek. I need another look at the Tarasenko goal, but the third goal STUNK and was definitely bad.

It wasn't his fault on the PK not being able to stop two tips in front, but the even strength goals on him were not good.

I don’t think this is really true. If you want to look at the failure in chronological order, it was Vitek giving up two goals on five shots when the inexperienced team in front of him needed him to come up big and settle them down. Then came the abysmal power plays that needed to come up gif and instead generated zero shots. At that point the game was basically already lost as the rangers went into turtle mode “formula” AKA defensive shell and let Igor handle whatever gets through for the rest of the game.
That's a narrative. The Devils had two PP's I believe and couldn't produce a shot.

Again, it’s the goaltending and special teams, exactly what a lot of us thought would be the difference maker. Normally i would say losing game one isn’t a big deal, but I definitely have much larger concerns about the way this one happened. Got flat out embarrassed. And I worry about where the goalies headspace will be at moving forward as well. Because we’ve seen, when he is down, he can be bad.

New Jersey, Exit 16E
One of the worst games of the season.

Maybe the worst considering the stakes

And I have zero interest in what any of them have to say postgame from the coach to the players.

Sit Wood, bring in Lazar next game.
I forgot about Lazar

I would seriously bring in Lazar for the PK.

The penalty kill was unacceptably bad tonight and literally got scored on every time we were on it. I know the one didn't count.

May as well use Lazar. One guy is signed for 2 more years, while the other guy has anywhere from 1-8 weeks left as a Devil.

What narrative? I literally listed what happened in chronological order, and it included exactly what you said about the PP. if the PP came first then whatever, the point is it was the combination of both that lost this game early.

I didn’t realize Shara didn’t play, then again there are about eight to ten guys including Bratt or Timo who if you told me they were scratches I’d believe you.

In the season series, rangers didnt block these many shots. They didnt dominate on the PK against the devils.
They adjusted their overall game to slow down devils’ offense. They adjusted. We didnt for game 1

Ruff doesn't adjust. He won't adjust. Either we overcome their defense and goaltending with the same style of play we have employed all season or we lose. Simple as that.
