What the devils did tonight goaltending tonight is akin to 8 straight 3 and outs in football and the fans blaming the defense for not holding them off the board.

I don’t think this is really true. If you want to look at the failure in chronological order, it was Vitek giving up two goals on five shots when the inexperienced team in front of him needed him to come up big and settle them down. Then came the abysmal power plays that needed to come up big and instead generated zero shots. At that point the game was basically already lost as the rangers went into their turtle mode “formula” AKA defensive shell and let Igor handle whatever gets through for the rest of the game.
