I love your posts and wish you'd post here more often, but your level of hatred for Dougie is the one thing I'll never understand.
I want to like him, believe me.

But it's hard to root for a 6'5 defenseman who regularly bails out on hits like he does. When games get tougher it becomes increasingly obvious. Just no intensity in his game and it's really tough to ignore.

It’s not homerism. Our guys are losing the puck even when they aren’t getting pressured. The PP isn’t executing simple plays. Our goalie came up small within the first five minutes of the game. The rangers basically sat back and did nothing in the second period.

Now, if this continues through the next game it’ll likely be because the rangers are doing something to stifle the devils. But through two periods, I’m not seeing a ton of evidence yet that the rangers are doing anything special that is forcing the devils to play shitty.

How do you not see that they are perfectly countering what the devils have been successful at? LOL. whatever.

hes an offensive minded DMan who put up nearly a a point per game

if you're expecting him to throw big time body checks, thats on you. He isnt and has never been that.

Because I actually watch what the players on the ice are doing?

Devils don’t even look like they are skating at full speed. I guess the rangers figured out how to make them skate slower than usual through some magical spell?

They are intercepting all the passes. They have been blocking all the shots. They are letting them skate however they want. idk what the hell you're watching.

But like, being physical and throwing big checks isn't in his game... He's never been seen like that. He brings a lot on the offensive side, one of the best. That's why he signed the big bucks. Maybe your expectations of him are unrealistic based on his scouting report and what he's paid to do?

I never want to see this first PP unit again after this season. It never was good and constantly gives up grade A short handed chances. There's no need to stack everyone onto it. It's a too many cooks in the kitchen unit. Split it up so that when our PP1 sucks, like it does right now, we can at least try to rely more on the second unit. Instead trying to juggling 5 on 5 lines as the solution to why our PP has zero shots on 4 attempts.

It’s just game 1. It’s just game 1. It’s just game 1.

Breath.

We have seen how mentally tough this team is all year so I’m not worried yet, but damned if they are not young and their stars are largely inexperienced in this type of game. Everything is a learning experience and this stings but let’s see how they respond.
It's a valid point against the Devils. But response will be key.

This game reminds me of game 1 of the ECF in 2012 more than anything.

I think that was the semi-easy shutout Lundqvist had, right?

He had one that was very light like a 1995 Marty shutout and then he had one where he legit stood on his head, which was game 3 in Newark.

The only scary part about this game is that Shesterkin hasn't really been the difference here. He ain't even faced a power play shot tonight.

They're outshooting us and we've been trailing literally the entirety of this game.

We've been AWFUL. We've killed one of two penalties, 0 for 4 on the PP and outshot 3-0 on our power plays.
