This is definitely a situation where we can pin more blame on the goalie. You’ve got a young team in front of you with major nerves, you can’t be allowing two goals on five shots. This is where the goalie has to come up big to settle the team down. He didn’t get it done.

I'm one of those that believes in playoff experience and bellieves the rangers have a huge edge there BUT that first period was worse than anything I expected. WOW. Period lie that you want your goalie to get you through it but VV didn't. He's got a lot to prove. Regular season means nothing.

The most disheartening thing was the Wood penalty and predictable result. They started well and drew two penalties. Counter attack goal against, but the Wood penalty was a killer. It took a few minutes to recover.

They have to play smart. This game isn’t over.

Our PP isn`t good, their PP is very good. They were deadly in the end of the season. 40% in april. Devils should stay away from the box. If not this stupid penalty, it would be a close game.

If someone pulled the stats for this first period they wouldn’t look good so I have no idea what point you think you’re making. Maybe people should focus more on hoping the team can settle down and get going here instead of being seemingly eager to puff your chest that they’re doing well.

The scoreboard is all that matters. That’s it. No special advanced numbers stating “well according to this, we SHOULD be winning.” scoreboard is it.

The Rangers basically followed their gameplan perfectly in the first. Slow us down 5v5 and beat us on special teams. I do worry a bit if this series becomes too much of special teams battle. 5v5 I think we're the superior team.

I’ve had this underlying feeling all season that the team is built more for regular season success and the speed will be nullified by more checking and defensive play by an opponent. Not to mention shaky goaltending. Hope I’m wrong, but it looks to be rearing it’s ugly head so far.

The scoreboard at the end of the game is what matters, actually. The scoreboard after period 1 doesn’t mean anything. The scoreboard after game 1 isn’t everything either. Take a breath.
