Look, I like Schmid, but every reflexive lineup change and weirdo line shuffle in this series has a whiff of panic about it and betrays a lack of faith in our key guys who've driven this thing all season long to dig in and get this done.

Despite not playing as much as he should have, Schmid was statistically our best goalie this season and gave us the best chance to win from our 3 options.

I have mixed feelings on that.

Maybe the boys play more solid because of it ?

But can you really envision Schmid winning out over Gerkin ?

Schmid himself is the least of my worries aside from what happens if he gets lit up because the team sucks. If we play like we did in Games 1 and 2 it wouldn’t matter if a divine being was in net. If we play better I see no reason Schmid can’t play like he did in the regular season.

You know it’s coming though, that’s why the first two games were so deflating, we didn’t even have that inevitable dealing with a brick wall game that’s bound to happen.

Ya know in 2010 and 2018 I didn’t have much confidence the team win could their series. With the former they had already been playing mediocre hockey for the better part of three months to end the season, and the latter everyone knew simply couldn’t match up with a legit contender. Both times most of us knew this going in and the bar was set low as far as expectations.

I’ve never experienced another year where the gap between what we saw in the regular season and what transpired within the first two games of the playoffs was so big. It’s an abomination that I feel so little faith that this team will even play well tonight, much less win the game.

This team proved me wrong five games into the season. I spent the rest of the time up until a few days ago believing in them. I really hope they can prove me wrong again. To end a record breaking season looking like complete posers would be f***ing criminal.

Couldn't it have been a 1:00 PM game today? There's two afternoon games tomorrow. Canes/Islanders starts at 1:00, with the Bruins/Panthers starting at 3:30. Why couldn't we just be the first game today? Then every game would be in a different time slot, unless they went to OT.
