I disagree. Schmid was way better than Vanacek.

He was way better than Game 1 Vitek. I don't think there was a lot of difference in Game 2 Vitek other than maybe stylistically Schmid will do better against this team because like Ruff said, a bigger goalie can help with the deflections.
