Pretty good sign Schmid is starting. First good coaching decision of the series by Ruff.
It's good idea the more i think about it. One more loss and you throw in Luke also to see all the cards.

There is nothing i hate more than going 0-4 without ever changing the goalie.

Hopefully the straw comes through again

lets see if they can avoid getting embarrassed yet again tonight. i will laugh if schmid starts and they win, or even if they lose and we plays really well.

If Luke Hughes is not in then I'm not watching.

Also props to Gulitti for the nice Schmid pun. Miss him.

From historian ChatGPT:

Yes, there have been instances where coaches have been fired during the playoffs in the NHL and other major European hockey leagues.

In the NHL, one notable example is the firing of Michel Therrien by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009. The Penguins were in the midst of a playoff race and had a 27-25-5 record when Therrien was relieved of his duties. He was replaced by Dan Bylsma, who led the team to a Stanley Cup championship that season.

In the Finnish Liiga, former NHL player and coach Doug Shedden was fired by Jokerit Helsinki during the 2019 playoffs. Shedden had been with the team for three seasons and led them to a league championship in 2019, but was dismissed after they were eliminated in the playoffs.

In the Swedish Hockey League, Rögle BK fired their head coach, Anders Eldebrink, during the 2017-2018 playoffs. Rögle BK was in the middle of a first-round playoff series when Eldebrink was let go, and they ultimately lost the series.

In the Swiss National League, the HC Lugano fired their head coach, Greg Ireland, during the 2021 playoffs. Lugano was trailing 3-0 in their playoff series when Ireland was relieved of his duties.

There have been other instances of coaches being fired during the playoffs in European hockey leagues as well, but these are some of the more notable examples.
Therrien was fired in the regular season

ChatGPT sucks for hockey, lmao! Seems like their algorithm confused 'playoff race' with 'playoff'. They got a ways to go!

ChatGPT largely sucks for accuracy in general, but it writes very professionally and with authority.
