Post-Game Talk: ECQF Game 2: Rangers @ Capitals 5/4/13 - Lundqvists 0 - Capitals 1

kreider brassard clowe moore all came here and were told just go out and play your type of game and scored then they learned torts system and now they can be found on the back of a milk carton

This is key... they're first two games all of them pulled in points... all of them... since then, brass has pulled single digit points and clowe has done minimal...

This perimeter system is bogging down the talent on this team... I'm almost hoping we get swept so torts is canned after this...

Its getting so difficult to watch... we have one fluke goal in two games... total accident.. now we can't put **** in the net.

This team just can't score. They need to add another legit scorer. The team has the depth to pull off a trade to add that scorer. They can move Dubinsky, Anisimov and a pick/prospect to add a second proven goal scorer to Gaborik....

Oh wait..... :)

That game was an anomaly to how this team is. It might've been the worst possible thing to happen with the added expectations on those players.

Well then he has my sympathies.

Same here man.

Hank is the only real true competitor on this team. He HATES losing. All the other players, EVERYONE else, they think losing sucks, but they move on quickly.

Henrik on the other hand takes it personally, like WE do as fans. If all the players cared as much as he does.

This is what makes him so special. A true professional. A guy getting paid $6,750,000 a year, but it doesn't even matter to him. He just wants to win, and he wants to win HERE, in New York.

Enjoy this while it lasts everyone, we won't have another goalie like this in this organization for a long long long time.

He's NOT going to leave though. While hockey is a very important part of his life, it isn't his WHOLE life. He loves New York, his family is settled here, he has business interests here and he isn't going anywhere. He will be a New York Ranger for the rest of his career. For better, or for worse.

Everyone plays this game to win a cup and to make the most money possible hell even ray bourque left boston to win one and there have been others . Don't kid yourself if someone has a chance to win a cup or any championship then they will leave no matter how much they love there city.

Hey rangers fans, you know how you guys can't score, You guys are pissed off at your coach, you guys have had a goalie standing on his head, You guys probably deserve a better fate, or at least be 1-1 going into the next game.

We know how you feel EXACTLY

Bourque played 20 years in Boston and was dealt at the trade deadline. He played the rest of that season and resigned for one more year. He didn't leave Boston as a UFA.

The difference is the Canucks at least have a recent history of scoring. A lot. They've just gone cold. The Rangers have lacked offense for several seasons in a row now.

Signed,

Watching these two games really makes me wonder what happened to the Caps team we played 3 times in the regular season. This feels like an entirely different team.

They have made a commitment in the second half of the season to team D and PK. And Holtby seems particularly effective against the Rangers.

But the point is he left to win a cup and hank isn't getting any younger he is 31 now and will be 32 going on 33 at the end of his contract next year so maybe 2 to 3 prime years left . if you don't think he is thinking about it then your kidding yourself. i want him signed long term so don't thunk i am wishing him out of here the guy is our best player all i am saying is the longer we wait the more of a chance of loosing him there is.

Missed the whole game minus the OT, had to work, then caught OT at a Cinco de Mayo party. Got pissed off for 15 minutes then had a few drinks said **** this team why am I wasting my energy on them and that's my sentiments

Bourque was almost 40 when he asked to be traded, mainly because of the Marty Mcsorley incident and because how poorly the bruins were playing that year.

I think Lundqvist will be playing at a high level into his late 30's. I think you are blowing things a bit out proportion. It's not like the Rangers are one of the worst teams in the league and the team has no shot at making the playoffs.

I just think the Rangers aren't going to win again until they are able to get elite talent through the draft. The problem is that we never suck bad enough to get those guys. Stuck in perpetual mediocrity. :shakehead

Your first two sentences I was thinking to myself "How many times have I heard this?" Haha. Nice one

we'll win when we get a coach that doesn't a) drill Sargent his team and b) plays a system other than this perimeter hockey garbage

If Tortorella is still here by the end of next season.....Henrik will be signing elsewhere. So enjoy watching him while you can.

Pretty much. They weren't corrupted by Torts and his "system." Once Torts got his claws into them they became invisible.

Some of you are hysterical. As if it's Torts' fault Stralman hit the cross bar and Nash hit the post. Either goes in and it's a tied series.

Well, there are 3 NHL teams in the New York area. Brodeur is only signed for one more season, and the up-and-coming Islanders weakest position right now is in nets.

While it's highly unlikely Lundqvist would put on another jersey, never say never.

Post doesn't count any more than a shot that missed the net. In fact neither count as shots on goal. At the end of the day, the player missed the shot. It doesn't matter how close it was or if the goalie was beat. They missed their target, like usual.

Maybe Hank will get injured (or leave) in 2014-15 and we'll suck so bad we finish last, win the lottery and draft McDavid.

Girardi, Richie and Pysie were both out on the 2 powerplays that occurred during the last 18:00 of the game where we had ZERO shots on goal. Even better, we got to see the league dialed back to the 50's NHL with the birth of the Boyle-Richards-Pyatt line. Richards played 5:00 more than Brassard and had a face off % of 29. The Rangers need a new coach. They are not winning the cup with this one.
