Oh yeah, I did that yesterday big time watching my Mets when they're 6th in a row and looking forward to today. Life just doesn't get any more exciting than this. At least for me now. Used to not be that way. Losing Alvarez for at least a couple of months really sucks though. Was looking forward to this kid really doing some damage.Already drunk. Really drunkt. LGR
Well, we were 55-23-4. So that pretty much equates to 16-7.Just need to go 16-12 in the next 28 games.

I dunno. I seem to remember the NBA season starts in November and they play a similar amount of reg season games (80?) so therefore their playoffs start later than hockey and lag by a round. The NBA playoffs usually start (and end) before the NHL playoffs, IIRC. The NBA added the play in games, so that pushes things later for them.
That assumes they play the same system they played under Lavi, which I don't think is the case. Carbery has done a good job there. Washington is the 5th worst team in the league in terms of scoring, and they are right in the middle in terms of keeping the puck out of their own net.
Carbery is the MacGyver of NHL coaches, cobbling together victories out of hair pins and duct tape. They are absolutely going to have a strategy to frustrate our rush game. They want to turn this series into trench warfare because they know that, and staying out of the box, is the only way to beat us.
Lavi knows what he is doing, though. Unlike Gallant, he will make adjustments to counter whatever Washington is trying to do. Even if Washington's gameplan works, I don't know that it will be enough to beat us in this series.

I don't ever remember the NBA starting in November (in normal years), but you are right that it usually starts a bit after the NHL.I dunno. Ok not November but definitely the end of October, while NHL is beginning of October, so that means 2 to 3 weeks lag. And they both play 82 game seasons. I vividly recall hockey playoffs being ahead of basketball by a round or so. Now they're simultaneous. Something definitely has happened to push NBA playoffs earlier. Maybe it's NHL introducing bye weeks and I think now the season starts second week of Oct. And NHL had participated in the Winter Olympics a couple of times that pushed out the season.I don't ever remember the NBA starting in November (in normal years), but you are right that it usually starts a bit after the NHL.
If you go back and look at the Knicks' schedule over the years and compare it to the Rangers, you will see that the NBA typically starts after the NHL and typically finishes before the NHL. So, the NBA plays a more compressed schedule.
The last day of the NHL season this year was April 18th. The last day of the NBA season was April 14th. The NBA had the play-in games between April 16th and April 19th, and then the 1st round began April 20th, same day as the NHL playoffs.
If the NBA didn't have the play-ins, they would have already been in the middle of the 1st round when the NHL playoffs started.
