I don't think that is what killed us against Tampa last year. Slavin being hurt before the playoffs, our guys committing stupid penalties and thus giving Tampa's lethal powerplay too many chances, and some backbraking softie goals let in by Ned and Petr is what doomed us last year.

It certainly did not help playing all that extra OT against the preds, though.

It is when Raanta has overplayed his position!
Ehhhhh... Cole loses his stick on the play and gets caught in the corner when he thought (incorrectly) it was getting cleared out. Because he was caught in the corner, it ends up a quick 2 on 1 where Raanta makes the save, but in the process, Cole sets up shop right behind him. Resulting rebound isn't cleaned up, and Raanta gets caught too high because he literally cannot skate to the post because Cole is in the way (in the ESPN feed you can see him try to get there).

Its a good play by Cole to save the goal, but he basically bailed himself out of that one. He made a mess of things defensively on that play.

Definitely clutch to not cover the puck with his hand there. Shades of Nic 'the secret weapon' Wallin in game 1 of the 2006 SCF.

There was another one like that in the first period, near the blue line. Whoever it was had the presence of mind to grab the puck with both hands above his head, then make a fluid motion to place the puck where he wanted it without technically holding or throwing it.

This brings to mind the batshit 20+ page thread from a few years ago where a few Bruins fans were insisting that Krejci didn’t throw the puck, but “dropped” it, past the defender from blue line to red line. And also that he didn’t close his hand on the puck while it was his glove with the palm facing down. That thread was ****ing nuts.

I think I missed this during the game, I was buried in work emails during the last half of the third.
Looks to me like that was most likely going to go off the post and stay out... but still a nice play by Cole.

Shot came from almost on the goal line; from the replay it appeared it would've gone in to me.

My favorite part was one Bruin fan getting indignant and asking, "Well what's Krejci supposed to do, just stop skating and drop it at his feet?!".

Yes. That is precisely what he's supposed to do, otherwise it's a hand pass and a whistle.

It produced one of my favorite HF arguments of all time:

any added forward momentum to the puck was natural with him releasing it, not 'throwing' it.

He didn't throw it, he just released it with forward momentum. Sideways gravity took care of the rest.

Do people think Boston gets 36 shots in another game the rest of the series? Personally, I don’t. Feel like they were better than us last night (which doesn’t happen often), outshooting us by double digits and we still won 5-1. Feel that bodes well for the remainder of the series.

Aho and Slavin? I watched Marty Necas throw his body around.

I didn't know he knew how to do that.
He does a pretty good job of it with his one-times (at least he did in Charlotte)

True but that's no excuse. Tampa had to play a 5 OT game early in their first cup run
Agreed, not to mention if that's the excuse you're gonna use then what's the excuse for playing like poop sandwich against Nashville to begin with? Games/series wouldn't have gone that far if we hadn't come in on cruise control
