Exactly.

I've not always been sold on the Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan line, as I've felt that Stepan should play with Nash. But they make for a formidable shutdown line that still will score on you.

Stepan is the Adv. Stats Selke winner, Callahan one of the better defensive wingers, and Hagelin is a great possession player that will force the opposition to chase the puck around their own zone. If we can ensure that this line goes up against Ovechkin's line, Ovechkin's line will likely be a minus line for the Caps.

I am however worried for the Zucc-Richards-Nash line if they end up against the OV line. Zucc is a great possession player, but neither of the three is very adept in their own end. This could become a problem on the road.
 
The biggest thing is to somehow manage to get by Washington... I really think if these guys come back and get healthy, we have a serious shot at the cup.

Without guys like Staal playing like himself, we can win a series or two but we won't be winning a championship.


Perhaps the mos upsetting injury is Clowe because so much of the guy's game is his physicality. Coming back from a concussion won't allow him to be as physical as we'd like.

Our Top-4 are going to have to be excellent. They must shut down their top-6 and they must be more physical than we've seen this season. A win here would be huge, and the deeper we can get in the series, the more playoff-type players we get back from injury (Clowe, Boyle, Staal, Dorsett).
 
I'm starting to get the pre-game jitters... and I don't even have to play tonight lol. I'm kind of nervous about this series now... I REALLY hope Staal can make an appearance by game 3. He's imperative to this team's playoff success IMO. We can't be riding McD and Girardi and burn them out again.
 
Ugh, only Craps fans rival Pens fans in terms of arrogance. They still bring up the "We Are Louder" chant and that GDT has videos from the 2009 and 2011 series. Seriously?


Anyway, it's imperative that we start the series off well. 3-2 Rangers, goals from Nash, Stepan, and Kreider :yo:
 
I think we win this one in convincing fashion. The Rangers have been the better team 5v5, both scoring-wise and possession-wise. The Caps won't get many opportunities for their deadly PP.

But I also think the Caps will react and adjust, so the following games will be a lot tougher. The Caps may try to get under the Rangers' skins and get them to take penalties. With the Rangers PP being as bad as it is, the Caps will definitely benefit more from a penalty-fest.

Stay out of the box, and we win this series in at most 6 games.

I've never seen a fan base reach for such ridiculous reasons to prove they're better, like Caps fans...
Though, that seems to come with teams who have never won anything except division banners.

They haven't been past the second round since, what, 1997? Yet they talk like they're playoff champions.
 
I heard a caps fan on the radio today saying he felt the caps were going to be this years kings....we shall see
 
If we win that shootout in 2012 vs the Flyers, this would be the fifth straight year vs the Caps.

As fate would have it. I love the smell of a new rivalry in the morning.

in about an hour i starting sipping on something because the jitters almost hurt

cant imagine how the players feel right now


i got a feeling we are super ready for this and come out strong tonight

OT but, I'm watching 24/7 right now and it's the part where Girardi's playing hockey with his son. His son shoots the puck wide of the net and G goes "You look like daddy out there" :laugh:

Can this be a thing for game 3, Detroit has the octopus right? Would someone be willing to throw a jar of Smuckers on the ice at MSG? A plastic squeeze bottle would suffice.
