Series Talk: ECFs Discussion - Rod: Game 5 is gonna be a doozy!

Goes into what went right for the Leafs in game 6.

Apparently we had like, 3 chances around the spot area the entire game, and they blocked a ton of our shots.

Also, I did not realize how much Ekblad f***ed up on the 2nd goal. Too slow to catch a simple uninterrupted pass by Forsling

1st goal, and yes that was an epic f*** up that happens maybe 1 out of 1000 of those types of passes. Hate that they scored on that.

I think what really hurt our game was missing the net wildly.

It’s hard to forecheck when the pucks are essentially assisting the Leafs breakouts

hey, i know verhaeghe missed 10 of his 14 shots but we have some other players out there! seriously, though, i'll amend my last post - if TOR packs it in again, we need to 1) get it past first defender AND 2) get it on net.

back to verhaeghe, he's looking like a eunuch in a whorehouse again. (seemed to wake him up last time i said that!)

this has been an interesting series with the drama and adjustments. i have the same feeling before g7 of the final last year, which is "not great". but it's a blank slate when the puck drops.

You brought up 61% faceoff saying no wonder they won.

We've been struggling with faceoffs all series, yet we won 3 games. So faceoffs won made a negligible difference at best. It's not the reason we lost.

I knew about the blocked shots for game 6. I knew that was a notable factor so there was no point in questioning your point because I agreed with the blocked shots part.

I was highlighting the faceoff percentage because you made it sound like that was a big reason we lost. Whilst I responded implying that faceoff struggles for us have been an issue all series, yet here we are going to game 7.... So if we won three games with faceoff struggles, perhaps it isn't that big of a deal...

If you think losing the faceoff and blocked shot battles in Game 6 isn’t why we lost, because that’s been happening all series, then fair enough. Point taken.

Just to clarify though, when I said “and blocking shots,” I wasn’t suggesting it only happened in Game 6. I meant it’s been a trend all series, just like faceoffs. So I was adding to your point.

What threw me off was your response: “yeah I know, that’s why I didn’t bring up blocked shots.” But if knowing something means it’s not worth mentioning, then why bring up faceoffs? You said you knew both were happening, so by that logic, you wouldn’t have commented at all. That’s why I joked, “so you didn’t know about faceoffs?”, because your reasoning didn’t quite add up. Just pointing out the inconsistency.

Gonna pull a Rod here and say this was a seven game series that didn't feel like it was a seven game series. The Leafs defended really well but aside from maybe game 1, I never really felt like they were the better team.

They had some ridiculous bounces to start the series but that evened out. Bob found his game again. And we just wore them down. Great performance by this team.

Carolina is going to be a tougher task but don't see any reason why we aren't the favorites here. And really, everything from here on out is just icing now. Going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Leafs were better game 1 and 6. Panthers 2,4,5,7. Game 3 was a coinflip. Better team won.

The series against the Canes in 2022-23 is one of my favorites of the past few years. I'm looking forward to this one more than I was Tampa and Toronto. Maybe in part because its easier to take a loss against the Canes than it is those two teams

At this point, all I want is to beat the Canes. Just make the SCF. For now.

Carolina’s advantage is when we have PP. Kompon PP vs Perpetual Motion PK. Will they get more SHG than we PPG?

I obviously want back to back Cups, but also the longer we go, the longer it will take Chucky to recover, if he will have surgery and go LTIR.

I’ll at least say about Chuck, he’s for sure injured

But he’s been dog shit every 2nd since joining us lol

I can’t even tell if it’s injury or par for the course
