If Kakko is scratched, that's monumentally stupid.
For starters the kid hasn't been that bad. When the Kid Line was actually getting some minutes they, including him, were the best line on the ice for either team.
He's 21 years old. 2nd overall pick. A lot of this organization's future success is riding on him. You don't scratch him in an elimination game so that you can plug some garbage scrub never-was and never-will-be like Rooney or Hunt or Gauthier in his place. Those guys won't move the needle for us winning this game. However winning a game like this with Kakko in the lineup getting these experiences is tremendously valuable for both him and this organization. Scratching him and losing looks disgusting. Scratching him and winning will paint some false narrative.
Second, if the litmus is Kakko's play, why are other guys in the lineup when some of them have been far inferior to whatever anyone wants to say Kakko has been. He's 21 and learning and growing. Others are more experienced and have zero excuse. What's the excuse for Strome, Panarin, Copp, Kreider, Goodrow, Trouba who have all completely disappeared this series.
