Pretty sad that you can't make a lineup decision anymore without worrying the player will demand a trade. Not sure where that's even coming from. What indications are there that he has a Krav type attitude??
Reaves over Kakko tonight would be brutal but he has no basis to demand to be moved if he is. Has not done enough in his 2 years to swing it like that. He's by far the #3 on that Kid line

I think Kakko is gone this off-season no matter what happens tonight. And I think scratching him is the right decision. He just doesn’t do anything out there. Doesn’t create chances, can’t shoot (or lift) the puck, his defensive game was only good for like 2 weeks last season, he doesn’t hit/agitate, or even just create simple chances. On top of all of that he’s slow so it’s not like he has the ability to flip a switch and burn defensemen like Motte or even Gauthier could. He just doesn’t have *it.*
And I say this as someone who loved Kakko as a prospect before we won #2. I had him #1 and I thought he would truly be the best out of that draft class but it’s crazy how bad he’s fallen behind. Jack Hughes has as many goals this season and Kakko has in his career.
He was by far my biggest scouting disappointment. I’m usually pretty good in that area but damn I fell in love with his non-NHL playstyle and overlooked translatability.

4 goals the last 3 games and scratching Kaako to put in Reaves is big brained coaching. I really want to see the puck rimmed around the boards with no hope of ending on net.

My biggest issue is that although Kakko has had his struggles, he’s played really well on that third line.
The problem is the inconsistency of the 1st line and the ineptitude of the 2nd line. Why break up the one that works?

I’m sorry but if Kakko is scratched in the biggest game of the season in favor of Rooney and Reaves then I really really do question how good of a coach he really is.

Just like how people are giving Panarin props for his pass to Copp which then went to Strome and should have been a goal people should be giving props to Kakko for his pass to Chytil in the first period that came in a little bit too hot but which also really should have been a goal.

He should not be scratched and he's looked better in the playoffs than he ever has, but people act like it's completely unfathomable to scratch the guy
Because it is. Any other option is unfathomably worse than Kakko. There’s no justification for it.
Kk has generated more chances than say a guy like Vatrano. Vatrano has been pissing me off with his lackluster play. He doesn't belong in the top 2 lines.

It's not like he's being scratched to make room for real players though. This would make a wee bit more sense if he was being scratched to make room for Blais. But scratching him to get Rooney and/or Reaves in the lineup is absolutely unfathomable.
