GDT: ECF: Game 5 - New York Rangers vs Florida Panthers, 8pm ET, ESPN

I'm getting a kick out of people who are saying tonight is some legacy game for Kreider. As if it will be the one thing that will define his career as a homegrown Ranger. Would it be a blemish if he can't get going? Sure. Will it be remembered? Yeah probably. But I'll remember all the big moments. And there are way more of those than not.

Kreider won us a clinching game essentially by himself a week and a half ago. Mika had 14 points in 10 games coming into this series. Im not excusing their play against Florida by any stretch (they are the reason we arent up 3-1), but to see people saying they should or could be traded is lunacy.

This is really the defining moment for the “core” players here. And my that I mean the older vets who wear a letter sans Trocheck and Goodrow. Those guys have done their part.

I can handle losing this series, I would have
been really annoyed if they lost the last one because I thought that there were some really exploitable things in Carolina’s game (and they exploited them.) Florida is a better team and knew this would be a greater challenge.

But the big 3 has to step up here. Can’t go down to the Panthers with these guys throwing up a dud of a series.

Kreider and Zibanejad have it in their DNA to turn the other cheek. Trouba is guy willing to fight, but he has spent this series and most of the playoffs fighting for his life on the ice. Mentally, the Panthers top guys are much much stronger than ours in terms of shift to shift style and consistency. If our highest paid forwards can flip the switch and actually show up, we will win this series.

I agree with almost everything you said. I just would call out Kachuk starting in warmups. I'm tired of his stick swinging tough guy act. If he wants that tough guy role lets make him earn it. I'd be happy with Rempe and CK calling him out from warmups tonight. Kreider is not a pushover. He is strong and he can fight. Hopefully Kachuk woke the big dog up.

Totally agree. The Panthers are an excellent team and the darlings of the league because of Tkachuk, losing would hurt but there would be nothing to be ashamed of as a fan. But Kreider, Mika, Panarin cant do nothing. Full stop. They need to win one of these games by themselves if we hope to advance.

Count me in. It would pump up the team as well as the fans. I say Rempe/CK start chirping Matt as an all talk coward starting in warmups. Keep saying oh Matty are you all talk. Lets do it tough guy. Your whole team thinks you are their tough guy. Time to show it. Worse comes to worse we lose Rempe and they lose Kachuk. I would not be upset if Trouba grabs Rodrigues for that fake job. What I do not want to see is Goodrow or Lindy doing it.

They really are fortunate the series is 2-2 right now. I am keeping faith that the big guns will show up and the ice will tilt more toward the other end.

I know Wyshynski. I'm just done with all the provocative titles of shows like, "Are the Rangers stars choking?" with Igor in the picture. I mean... what? And they are not choking. They just haven't been able to get going because of Florida. It's not because of a lack of effort or want to. They are trying out there. But Florida has done a wonderful job. They just need to figure out a way. And hopefully they can. But spare me what ESPN has to say on the matter. Their hockey coverage is awful.

Yup. That's why I laugh at what I've been seeing today regarding tonight as some kind of legacy game for Chris Kreider. If for whatever reason he just can't breakthrough it's certainly not going to define his career. It's just going to suck.
