Sure the defense has not looked great but these two are just as much to blame. I heard Kreider has 1 ES shot on goal this series. Is that true?
Defence is relied upon for breakouts. And sometimes it feels like we have 1 defenceman capable of making that pass, we all know who that is.

That said, even if the D is trash, Zibanejad and Kreider should not be this handcuffed by it. If all they are good for is a one-and-done rush when they get the puck exactly into their sticks at speed, we can do that for a whole lot cheaper in the future. They need to find ways to score on sustained pressure, and bring the puck up by themselves.

This has been an apparent problem for years, and not once have they contemplated on breaking them up to force either of them to play a bit different so that when the opposition is heavy on the forecheck, that line isn't completely doomed.

350+ posts with more than 6 hours to go until puck drop. Some teams don't even get this many posts over an entire 82 game season.

Years ago I watched Zibanejad corral a loose 50/50 puck in the neutral zone, skate in and bury it 20 feet in front of me for the gold medal 1-0 OT winner in the WJHC. (I was behind the net on the play)

I know that killer instinct is still there. Cmon guys, buck the trend tonight and win this one.

(what an incredible hockey experience)

I mean the Panthers have the best collective defense in the league and they’re throwing out Barkov-Ekblad-Forsling against the Zibanejad line.

The only forward who's played significantly more 5v5 time than Laf in this series is Panarin.

Lavi just lost him on the bench because he got wrapped up in stupid f***ing zone starts like a nerd.

Game 3 sucked from start to finish. Game 4 started out well and went down the tubes when the coach stopped playing one of the best lines in hockey.

He's a good coach and he won't make that mistake again.
Yeah, he really over coached game 4, He decided to go Mika line, then Wennberg line, then the Bread line at the start of the period.

What happened is Trocheck saw only 15 seconds of ice time in the first 7 mins of the second period, due to being stuck in our own end and the first 2 lines not being able to make clean changes.

Also after we tied the game at 2, Bread line didn't see the ice again for over 5 mins. Wennberg did a nearly 3 min shift and he still got back out there before Bread line.

Agree I think he corrects it, but major brain fart by him.

Trouba and Lindgren have combined for 4 points in this series. Bread, Mika and Krieder have combined for 3. Let that sink in. We need our stars to score, especially on the PP. We need our Pk to be better. For all the talk about our atrocious 5 on 5 play during the season, the reason we are having trouble this series is that we are getting beat bad on special teams. We got off to a 3 zip start against Carolina because our PK was on a streak like 18 for 18 going back to Washington. Then we starting giving up goals and that series tightened. This series the PK continues to struggle. Florida has found a way to beat the diamond. They are making Miller and Trouba think when they are the outside guys and we all know what happens then. A couple of passes and there's a guy attacking our front from the corner leaving the down low D out to dry. 4 goals were scored on the exact same play.

We aren't pinned in our end during PPs, are we? We need our big guys to score. That's the bottom line. We aren't Edmonton, trying to win 6-5. We count on special teams and timely goals from our stars. Fox being.less than 100% hurts. But if we got anything from Bread and Mika in the open ice, we would be winning the series. Blaming our defense for that is stupid. They are supposed to be able to create offense. They haven't. How come getting pinned in our own end hasn't stopped Barclay Goodrow of all people from scoring goals.

When Panarin is on the ice, the Rangers have the same or more shots. That means that other than his line, they're being outshot by about 5-1.

The power play's most important part by far is Fox, and he's not Fox right now.

The Rangers are rarely skating freely in the offensive zone. Most of the game they're in their own zone.

Anomalies like Goodrow happen every year. Maybe the oddest one ever was John Druce.

Boyle says they need a better scheme.

So, Boyle says it's the fault of Laviolette, not the players.

So, is Lav a good coach or not?

Putting Wheeler out in the 2nd shift of OT was pretty dumb top

You are giving Panarin way too much credit for that lines' success creating shots. That's pretty much all Vinny and Laf. That's why I agree with the guy who suggested swapping Chris and Bread. Vinny and Laf would probably still have s huge advantage in shots because they are driving offense. Panarin is not

And yet, in most of the games, Panarin has been the best Ranger or close to it for generating shots.

Nk.idea how you can defend Panarin's play in this series. It's not like the goalie is robbing him on his great chances. He hasn't had any great chances.
