The main league league 0 (NHL) can only have max 50."

So, would it be a purely cosmetic issue?
 
I've been thinking of replaying this

One of the major turn offs I had with the game was the non realistic scoring, too many high scoring games and players ppg plus

Then again, I haven't touched it in a long long time, I don't think there was a way to limit that back then but seeing the progress, is there now a way to adjust this?

I don't use tactics at all and my seasons are pretty believable. The most I do is set who does faceoffs and whatnot.

To clarify the "whatnot" since that's vague as hell

I set faceoffs and playmaker to center and use players on lines where it makes sense. I don't have any teams with like... Jack Hughes on the fourth line. Bottom six is always a rookie or someone who makes sense there (honestly I never play rookies on the 4th line either, I trade them if they aren't going to be more than that). Every now and then I'll splurge on a center (it's usually Boone Jenner) and throw him at 3C for some insurance in the top 6 in case of injury.

I'm mostly posting because I forgot I do mess with tactics on the power play and one other thing. But I don't do the crazy balls-to-the-wall tactics ever. I change the tempo (I slow it down for 5v4) and every now and then will change the default to something else if the team is really struggling. But if I'm doing that, the power play is so bad that it's unrealistic. Quite the opposite from your issue! I also do find PK tough to get a realistic percentage and just accept that I will suck at it and give up SH goals (much like my favorite NHL team).

One last thing, mostly due to unbridled ADHD. In my games, I always play righties at RW and lefties at LW at 5v5. I change it in EHM assistant if needed. I do remember Laine GOING OFF when I had him on the left side (with Anthony Cirelli at C lol) in a recent save, dude had like 115 points. His overall rating was 164 I think? Anyways, figured I'd at least tell you how I set my games up since I forgot a did a little more than what I said.

EDIT: I'm open to suggestions about the PK. I play guys who make sense there. I suck no matter what tactics I use on PK

I never really had problems with the scoring, what kind of finally did me in was the fact that AI scouting/drafting is almost overpowered or broken. After a few years, once you get into regens, you flat out can't find any NHL-capable goalies outside of the mid-first round, nor lower-level NHL caliber players outside the 2nd...0 gems to be found it seems. Like AI will literally draft unranked guys with all stats < 5 in the mid-first, then when you use EHM Assistant you find out those guys have like 190 potential...no scout is going to realistically see that.

After a few years, once you get into regens, you flat out can't find any NHL-capable goalies outside of the mid-first round, nor lower-level NHL caliber players outside the 2nd...0 gems to be found it seems. Can anyone give an explanation of how and when to use the prospect generator? During a saved game?

I logged in here for the first time in years to ask this because I recently spun the game up again and have had trouble finding any real community or support for it. I feel like there are a bunch of active players "in the shadows" of this game but it outside of some great DB work by some folks in this thread it doesn't have much of an active community 10 years after release.

It's too bad. Just a few small patch changes would improve the game so much. Crazy how it's been left unfinished for so long.

I think it requires a fresh start
 
You don't have to do anything to use the generator, its embedded into the database, its just a tool we created to "pre-seed" players that will eventually spawn. The discussion around it is intended more for people like myself who make custom databases or commissioners altering databases for online play.

Not sure how long ago you played and with what database but that is no longer the case, I'd be interested in your feedback if you came back to it.
