I think it’s going to be a close race this year for the Calder Trophy. There are a ton of potential players that could surprise and make a real run for it.

Who do you think is going to win it and who are some wildcards that could make the top 3 in votes?

I’m picking with my heart and going Brad Lambert.

However, I think the voting will go like this in no particular order:

-Matvei Michkov
-Dustin Wolf
-Macklin Celebrini

*please ignore the Cutter Gauthier typo

Michkov. If Torts can fight his baser instincts
I think that’s an x-factor.

Michkov is a great player. But, with the Flyer’s coach and the overall makeup of the team, does he get ice time that would allow him to rack up points? I think he’s still the clear favorite, but it may be a rocky start for him.

Top 5
Michkov
Celebrini
Gauthier
Wright.
Smith

Don’t really see a stand out dmen, but I guess Hutson would prob be best bet from defensemen

No excuse to not have him on the leagues worst PP1. He’ll be a staple there

Question marks everywhwre

If only Dustin Wolf had a better team in front of him...
Celebrini doesn't have much to play with in SJ, but then again Bedard didn't either
Mitchkov, how long until Torts benches him a few games in a row and all hell breaks loose in Philly
Hutson, will Martin St Louis keep a leash on him? Knowing how he let Caufield run wild (after Ducharme almost killed his career), maybe Lane wins it?

As a SJ fan with two hopeful candidates, I'm going Michkov.

He's a year older than Celebrini, has two seasons' experience in the KHL, and as long as he plays hard for Torts, he'll get his PP1 time.

I think Celebrini and Smith will struggle a bit out of the gate for various reasons mostly centering around our D not really improving much from last year. We'll spend a lot of time hemmed in the D zone. Fewer OZ starts. Even with a decent PP, won't likely be enough to have them at the top of the voting, even if they get some votes.

I would love to be wrong.
