I decided to do a new write up. Thinking of only using and rafting Russian Players except my created player. Would anybody be interested in reading that?

*Edit*

So I decided to do something different. I made a team Called the Louisville Knockouts. I am building the team only from the draft, nothing else. No free agency, If I make a trade it must be offered to me. The only free agent I will take is my created Player.

Ah. I have seen this before. Should be really hard until your prospects get better. What team did you take over?

I took out Dallas and filled the new team with Team Poland for Extra challenge. So far the biggest challenge I am facing is making the minimum salary Cap. In my first draft I've done I got a few guys who might work out in a couple years. I noticed myself looking at where other players went in the draft to try to trade for them, then I had to say why, unless they offer them up I can't have them now.

I actually did something like this last night. I created a team from free agency who had never played an NHL game before. The one rule I have is the player cannot have played in the NHL before 2013-2014, played for any other NHL team, or must've been a free agent that year. I relocated the Buffalo Sabres to Madison. I traded all the prospects from Rochester for 1st round draft picks. In 2014, we were last in the league with 7 wins. I ended up having 9 first round draft picks in 2014, including Ekblad, Nylander, two 4.5 Y goalies, one 4 Y goalie, two 4 G forwards, two 4 Y forwards. Year two, we went 20-50-12 playing only our drafted prospects and free agent prospects. Year two draft was the same, in 2015 we had 6 first round picks, including the first three picks! McDavid and Clarke are the only two I can recall right now. Look for write ups beginning year three or four!

I just finished my first season. I only have one first round pick in the upcoming draft, as I filled the team with Team Poland. Its doesn't have the trade value one would expect it to have. Plus I am not using trades unless the computer offers them to me, and no free agency. If you drop a player they are gone forever.

Year Four, Madison Renegades

The first three years of the relocation of the Buffalo Sabres has been a tough one for Madison, as they've finished last in the league each season. But year four looks to have some promise. Led the way by 1st overall picks Ekblad (2014), McDavid (2015), and Yoshimura (2016) the future is bright for Madison. Anchored by lots of first round picks, one can imagine it will only be time until the Stanley Cup is brought to Madison.

This years lines look to be like:

Draisaitl 83 - McDavid 77 - Nylander 84
Clarke 75 - Scherbak 76- Dal Colle 69
Baillie 62 - Mistele 64 - Barzal 58
Winther 66 - Soumakis 60 - Lehkonen 63

Ekblad 81 - Yoshimura 83
McKeown 77- Wikstrand 82
Meloche 60 - Bear 75

Zubov 84

I watched Scherbak play live once this year. Easily the best player on the ice. I wanted to take him, but I took Ekblad instead

Year Four Wrap Up

The 2016-2017 NHL season for the Madison Renegades was a successful one, as all players matured and made a playoff birth for the first time since the relocation. Led by William Nylander, the Renegades finished 14th in the NHL with a record of 43-32-7. Leading the NHL in goals was captain William Nylander with a line of 44-44-88, 3 goals ahead of Steven Stamkos. Taking home the Art Ross was Connor McDavid, registering 22-67-89. Next in line for the Renegades was Leon Draistaitl who finished with 23-43-66. Up next was Blake Clarke who potted 16 goals and 48 assists, good enough for 64 points. Surprise of the year was Nikita Scherbak who scored 32 times and added 23 assists, enough for 55 points. Dal Colle had a breakout season with 20-28-48. In his first NHL season, McKeown led Madison defenseman with 5 goals and 31 assists. Behind him was former 1st overall pick Aaron Ekblad who had a line of 4-28-32. Growing to the highest overall on the team was Cedric Yoshimura, who started the season as an 81 overall and ended as an 86. Yoshimura led Madison in PIM with 142. Blake cCarke grew the most overall, gaining 9 points as finishing as an 84.

Madison faired off decently in goaltending, with both goalies registering a 2.35 GAA with an average of 92% SV%. Zubov had a record of 36-26-4 while Cavallo had a record of 7-8-3. Zubov had 5 SO's and recorded 3 assists over the course of the year.

Playing top ranked Boston in the first round of the playoffs, Madison fell short, being shut out 3 games and registering 2 goals in 4 games leading to a sweep at the hands of Bergeron and company.

Next up is the draft where the Renegades are looking to add to an already crowded pool of prospects.

Capitals hire Gretzky in Surprise Hiring

wayne-gretzky.jpg

Wayne Gretzky is the new President and General Manager of the Washington Capitals. The announcement coming from Capitals ownership earlier today came to the surprise of many around the National Hockey League, as Washington isn't the first City many thought Gretzky would return to the NHL with.

Gretzky announced at the press conference that he has hired Ulf Samuelsson as the new Head Coach of the team. Samuelsson was formerly an assistant coach of the New York Rangers, but also served as one of Gretzky's assistants in Phoenix. This time though, he is the head coach, with The Great One putting the team together.

Shortly After, Gretzky announced his first deal

To Washington; C Mark Letestu, 2014 2nd [CBJ]
To Columbus; RW Troy Brouwer

Gretzky said this of the deal; "Simply a hockey deal, we needed a center and some cap space, while Columbus needed a right winger. We wish Troy all the best in Columbus and are very happy to welcome Mark to the Capitals organization"
