Sony should make an NHL game. MLB The Show is probably the best sports game.

Made the first trade of my LA GM mode, shipping off Zykov (4 green) to Washington along with a 4th in 2014 for Kuznetsov (4.5 yellow)

Why? Zykov turned into a beast for me. 99s in every shooting category.

Also, I was going to say to add D-man Kevin Gravel, but you already started so it doesn't matter.

Zykov develops into a Rocket Richard challenging stud.

In one of my GMs, Tampa got hold of him. Him plus Drouin......... my goodness

In mid-season trades, the Penguins acquired 2012-2013 Vezina trophy winner, Bobrovsky in exchange for prospect Engelland, Fleury, and Vokoun. Also in a salary cap move, the Penguins moved F Jussi Jokinen for Winnipeg C Olli Jokinen.

The Pittsburgh Penguins finished first in the league with 109, enough to win the Presidents trophy compiling a record of 53-25-5.

Leading the league in points is none other than Sid the Kid. Crosby scored 29-72-101, and Malkin scored 43-48-91, good enough for second in the league. Coming in third for scoring for the Penguins was left winger James Neal, who's line of 36-32-68 helped bolster the scoring. Kunitz had a good year as he finished with 28-30-58. Eberle contributed very well in Pittsburgh, putting up 22-30-52. In a tie among D, Maata and Letang both finished with 6-36-42. For the young guys, Sutter finished with 15-21-36, Gardiner had 5-21-26, and Bennett had a disappointing season on the third line only putting up 11-4-15.

Bobrovsky lead the league in wins with 41, finishing with a 41-27-4 with 2.14 GAA .928 S% and 9 shutouts, despite playing half the year with Columbus.

The playoffs were a different story. In the first round, playing Tampa Bay (43-31-8), the Penguins easily won in 5 games. Round two was when things went south. Playing NYR (45-30-7), King Henrik was too much to handle for the Penguins. While only scoring 8(!!!!!) goals in 6 games, being shut out in two (!!!) games, the Penguins dropped the series.

Having a big post season was Malkin, putting up 2-11-13 in 11 games. Neal had 4-6-10, Eberle had 5-4-9 and lead the team in post season goals, then there was Crosby, putting up a meager 0 goals and 6 assists in 11 games.

The Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup, led by great performances by Doughty, Quick, and Kopitar.

Awards for Penguins:
Presidents' Trophy
Art Ross: Crosby
Hart Memorial: Crosby
James Norris: Maatta
Frank J. Selke: Crosby
Ted Lindsay: Bobrovsky

Up next is the draft, where the Penguins will have a pick between 22-25, and what will be an "interesting" off-season, as stated by GM/Owner Lemieux during the end of the season presser.

Off Season

Only one trade was made on draft day by the Penguins, sending Zlobin and Jarry to Vancouver for Tommernes and 1st round pick in the 2014 draft, 27 overall.

Drafted at 26 is Sam Bennett, 4 star gold Center TWF. Drafted at 27 is Jared McCann, 4 star gold Center TWF. Content with the up and coming defenseman, Lemieux decided it was time to stack up with forward prospects.

Olli Jokinen was not signed, as well as Orpik and Stempniak. There were many free agent signings, mostly prospects with upside. Up and coming d-man Jake Gardiner signed a 6 year, 4.11 million dollar contract. Goc resigned to a 2 year, 1.815 per year deal. Notable free agent signings (all 1 year): Handzus, Steckel, Fraser, and Lander who were brought in for bottom 6 defensive strengths.

This season looks to be a good one.

Lines to begin the season:
Neal (90) -Crosby (98) - Eberle (86)
Kunitz (84) - Malkin (95) - Gibbons (84)
Sutter (83) - Goc (81) - Bennett (81)
Fraser (76) - Steckel (76) - Handzus (77)

Maatta (86) - Letang (89)
Martin (85) - Niskanen (84)
Gardiner (83) - Despres (81)

Bobrovsky (86)
Smith (82)

Thinking about starting a GM mode with the Caps as the "new GM". Any moves you guys suggest making? Think I definitely need to sure up the blue line. Who are some players you guys would suggest to target at D or any other position? Thanks

I would definitely trade Ovechkin for someone else cause he will just end up a minus player for you and have around a 65 point season

Should I put Mackinnon on the wing with Duchene, put him at 1C and push Duchene to 2C, or keep Mackinnon at 2C?

Don't trade Ovechkin. Whenever I am able to find a great playmaking winger to go on the RW w/ him and Backstrom, he hits 45 goals and often 85+ points. Ex.: Signed Kane in FA in 2015, ended up winning the Cup twice in a row after that with my defense being Timonen-Carlson, Alzner-Green, Orlov-Hillen. Regehr is always a nice, cheap target as a DFD to go in the Top-4. Also, Gardiner had pretty low trade value IIRC, still with his 4 1/2 stars. Just some thoughts.

Definitely don't trade Ovi. Keep Kuznetsov as he can end up being the perfect playmaking winger for Ovi if you let him develop.

Year two Regular Season Wrap Up

General Manager Mario Lemieux was very active during the season, making two large moves. The first of the two, the acquisition of Sven Baertshi (84) in exchange for Chris Kunitz (84) and draft picks. The second, the largest deal around the NHL, James Neal and two minor prospects dealt to Colorado in exchange for Nathan MacKinnon.

Despite starting the season with a 2-8-1 record, things really changed around. The Penguins finished 51-29-2 equaling 104 points, four shy of the Presidents' Trophy winning Kings who look to capture their second straight Stanley Cup.

Production among the team dropped this year, as Crosby only finished with 28-57-85 in 82 games, 5 shy of Toews, the league leader. Malkin finished second on the team again, and had the most goals, posting a line of 36-45-81. Third on the team was Jordan Eberle, who had a terrific year of 33-34-67. Playing in 3 less games, Nathan Mackinnon had 18-39-57. Sven Baertshi had 21-27-48. Leading Pitt. defenseman, Letang had 13-26-39. Behind him was the small guy, Brian Gibbons posting a 10-28-38. Maatta finished a few points shy of his rookie year, finishing with 9-25-34. Noteables: Sutter 12-16-28, Bennett 12-14-26, Gardiner 4-20-24 and Despres 2-9-11. Bobrovsky finished with higher numbers than last year but still led the league in wins with a 50-29-2 record with 2.34 GAA, .918 S% and 8 shut outs.

In the first round of the playoffs the Penguins will play the Buffalo Sabres (40-30-12) who are led by Tyler Myers.
