Alright, no longer crazy busy. Think I'll start doing this again. Teams you would like to see?

Oilers? decide what to do with the defence and goalie situation, possibly getting rid of one of big 3 and/or yak. Also haven't seen a Bruins in a while. I read this site daily!:)

In GM Tracker, if I spend my points to upgrade my Pro Scout, will this give me significantly better / more accurate info on other teams trade blocks and available players? If not, what will?

Nothing.

The GM trading block is completely transparent - shows you what 3 assets the other team is desperate to give up, and then going through their roster via the trade screen will show you all the assets they are going to give up in red.

I'm not really sure what there is to improve with the trading block

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, general manager Ray Shero was injured in a car accident late last night. Shero's doctors said he was in critical condition. Owner Mario Lemieux has announced that he will take over current general manager duties as well as maintaining status as owner.

More information to come as it is released.

During Lemieux's press conference after revealing he will be handling owner and GM duties, he announced the acquisition of Edmonton winger, Jordan Eberle in exchange for the services of Pascal Dupuis, Rob Scuderi, 4th, 5th, and 6th round picks in the 2014 NHL draft. But that was not the only move. Leafs's defenseman Jake Gardiner was added to the roster in exchange for prospect Scott Harington and a pair of late round picks in the 2015 NHL draft.

Setting his expectations for the upcoming season, Lemieux announced that the Penguins were going to bring back the Stanley Cup to Pittsburgh.

Goalie @ 3 stars wants 12k after his first contract

Drouin wants 8k for 5 years

Sproul wants 9k for 5

Not to mention nobody on my team is> 80 overall and i have a deep defensive prospect pool...... May trade a few for a pick.

happens to me all the time. I end up with multiple firsts in almost every draft because of trading RFAs

Katz Cleans House, Hires Messier, Gretzky

image_6f34a212b0ed6c40d3c9f3a578d5f53foriginal_17655.jpg

[Edmonton, AB] - The Edmonton Oilers have gone through a rebuild. No, not the on ice product, but the management staff. Owner Daryl Katz has cleaned house, removing Craig MacTavish, Kevin Lowe, Dallas Eakins, and the surrounding staff.

"This is something I felt needed to be done. This team is too complacent, the management team was too okay with losing." Said Katz.

The Edmonton Oilers have brought back some familiar names to lead this team into the future, hiring Mark Messier as the new General Manager, and Wayne Gretzky as head coach.

"These are two guys that fans can get excited about, but two guys we believe can fix this team, and bring the Edmonton Oilers back to their glory." Katz said.

Joining Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky is Pat Quinn, who will be the assistant GM, and an assistant coach. Both Messier and Gretzky are familiar with Quinn, through Hockey Canada. It was also announced that Gary Roberts will be joining the organization, as head of training and conditioning, but also as an assistant coach. Roberts played under Quinn for the Maple Leafs.

Messier Makes First Deal, Move Fasth to Calgary

[Edmonton, AB] - Mark Messier wasted no time in making his first move as General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers, making a move after the Oilers 2-1 loss to the Maple Leafs Saturday night.

The Oilers sent goaltender Viktor Fasth, Anton Belov, and Matt Hendricks to the rival Calgary Flames in exchange for a 2014 2nd round pick, TJ Brodie and Matt Stajan.

"First, I would like to thank Viktor, Anton, and Matt for all their hard work in this organization. Second, I would like to welcome TJ and Matt to the team. Matt Stajan is a guy we feel can improve our third line, and can help form a formidable checking unit. TJ is a young offensive defenseman that we are very excited to be adding. He adds some offense to our blueline, which other then Justin Schultz, isn't something we have a whole lot of" Messier said during the Presser.

The Oilers have started off 2-3-0, winning their first two games, but losing three straight. The Oilers visit Ovechkin in Washington on Monday, then go to Pittsburgh to face Sid the Kid and the Pens on Tuesday.

Oilers Miss Playoffs, Roy, Avalanche Lift Stanley Cup

78888118.jpg

[Edmonton, AB] - The Edmonton Oilers have missed the playoffs once again, finishing with a record of 39-37-6, which finished them with 84 points, and 24th in the NHL. The Draft Lottery still needs to occur, but the Oilers currently sit with the 7th Overall Pick. The 7th Overall pick will likely give the Oilers one of Jake Virtanen, Ivan Barbashev, Nikolaj Ehlers, Matt Mistele, or should they decide to go the goalie route Ty Edmonds. The Big team to watch for at the draft are the Buffalo Sabres, who hold the 2nd, and 8th picks in the draft thanks to the deal that sent Vanek to the Islanders.

There were plenty of positives for the Oilers this season, despite not being able to end their playoff drought. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins lead the team with 69 points in 82 games, and really took the next step in his game. Taylor Hall also took another step, scoring 31 goals, and finished with 61 points despite missing 12 games this season. Yakupov put up a respectable 56 points, while Eberle and Gagner both put up 55 points.

The Colorado Avalanche and Patrick Roy won the Stanley Cup, defeating Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. This is the second time Patrick Roy won the cup in his first year with the Avalanche. In his first season as a goalie for the Avs, they won the Stanley Cup. In his first season as the coach, they won the Stanley Cup.

Hall is only an 85?

Actually having rough salary problems for the first time in GM mode. Goalie+Tavares are making a combined $24 million a year with my top 3 defense all making over $5million.

A lot of 75-81 overall 3.5-4 stars prospects filling out my bottom 6.
