  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
not sure if i see him in the 6M+ range.... i think 5M is a good number for 5+ years with the new cap projections. points get you paid as a Dman, and while i think he may have a 35-40 pt season (with minimal pp time), not sure how many Dmen have signed in the 6M+ range (or rough equivalents) coming off minimal pt production.

Samberg is transformative for the Jets.

He has made one of the weaker Defenses in the league the strongest. just by being healthy and ready to go.
All situations, all phases.

He is a legit top 4 Dman on any CONTENDER in the league right now. the kind of guy you build around all by himself.
Shift after shift. he just dominates, Slows the game down and he just doesn't make the mistakes sooo many Jets D-men have made over the years.
I'm going to say a name in comparison...and people will scoff..... but IMHO..Samberg is a young Scott Niedermayer.. a true tower of strength on the blue line.

LONG TERM CONTRACT PLEASE!!!

I see him more as left handed Brett Pesce. Who is a great player imo.
Don’t think he brings that much offence.

I wanted to sign him to a 8 year 4.2-4.4 mill contract 2 years ago … instead of. Bridging him ….

How smart would that have been….
Would have been an awesome deal, but if I'm Dylan and a developing player there's no way i'm signing an 8 year deal based on a season cycling in and out the press box/third pairing scoring 8 points.

This should be @Whileee's victory lap thread. Was always super high on Samberg even back when he was seen as a pure defensive dman in college.

Humble brag time (can those coexist?)

If you look back to the draft thread he was the guy I was hoping we would draft in the second round. Really liked the raw potential and tools he had back when I watched prospects allot more. I am a complete sucker for the Jacob Slavin prototype. The type that has mildly modest point totals (30 to 40 points) due to the lack of PP1 time which leads to teams end getting good value for what they actually bring to the table. Also of note his wife is Dr Samberg (She’s a dentist). Saw her in an interview and she was laughing that patients will see the name and ask her “are you any relation to Dylan”

Nice to see Sammy producing at a 30 point pace over a full season without PP minutes.

Interesting I made the reference to Samberg being of that Slavin Prototype mold and I just went over to the Athletic to catch up and saw this quote from Murat:

“This brings us back to Slavin, who I brought up for a reason. Samberg’s positive impact on offence — and dramatically positive impact on defence — mirror Slavin’s impacts in Carolina. Their roles are similar, featuring nearly three PK minutes per game, while the Jets lean even harder on Samberg at five-on-five than Carolina leans on Slavin. The veteran has a higher peak and better consistency and got to his level slightly younger than Samberg did, but they’re providing similar value to their teams right now.”

Funny the things we remember, but I remember an exchange with you after the first round that draft both hoping on getting Samberg in the 2nd the following day. Samberg has turned out to be a great 2nd round pick by Chevy. One of my favourite players.

I can admit I under sold his ceiling. I thought he'd be a defensive number 4 but he's looking like a 2/3 defensive stud with some secondary scoring.

I remember that. I don’t get allot right but I did really like Samberg going in to day two.

I admit I am way less dialed in now on draft prospects. I will get a chance to study up on late 1st round projected prospects at some point before the draft this season. Hopefully, I am too preoccupied with our deep run in the playoffs but who knows I guess? I will cross that Bridge when we get there.
