Player Discussion: dylan samberg

not sure if i see him in the 6M+ range.... i think 5M is a good number for 5+ years with the new cap projections. points get you paid as a Dman, and while i think he may have a 35-40 pt season (with minimal pp time), not sure how many Dmen have signed in the 6M+ range (or rough equivalents) coming off minimal pt production.

Samberg is transformative for the Jets.

He has made one of the weaker Defenses in the league the strongest. just by being healthy and ready to go.
All situations, all phases.

He is a legit top 4 Dman on any CONTENDER in the league right now. the kind of guy you build around all by himself.
Shift after shift. he just dominates, Slows the game down and he just doesn't make the mistakes sooo many Jets D-men have made over the years.
I'm going to say a name in comparison...and people will scoff..... but IMHO..Samberg is a young Scott Niedermayer.. a true tower of strength on the blue line.

LONG TERM CONTRACT PLEASE!!!

I see him more as left handed Brett Pesce. Who is a great player imo.
Don’t think he brings that much offence.

This should be @Whileee's victory lap thread. Was always super high on Samberg even back when he was seen as a pure defensive dman in college.

Humble brag time (can those coexist?)

If you look back to the draft thread he was the guy I was hoping we would draft in the second round. Really liked the raw potential and tools he had back when I watched prospects allot more. I am a complete sucker for the Jacob Slavin prototype. The type that has mildly modest point totals (30 to 40 points) due to the lack of PP1 time which leads to teams end getting good value for what they actually bring to the table.

Nice to see Sammy producing at a 30 point pace over a full season without PP minutes.
