I hate to say it, but old news.

There were rumors that after Horvat was traded that both Larkin and Yzerman were making progress.
I think the "will not accept a trade without extension" is a new bit of information.

Dont see much coming to fruition from it, since they are obviously close enough that a deal should get done but it would be very fun to make more lowball offers for @ThankGord to get excited about :naughty:

Every update on Larkin is the obvious of the previous one. Pretty clear that these “insiders” just make things up as they go.

Unless it’s announced by the team, I believe nothing.

Larkin holds a full NTC, so if he doesn't get the extension or likes that team, he can say no.

Didn't realize that the Wings game him a full NTC in his first year into his UFA years. Not just a MNTC with a 10 team trade list.
Which is interesting because it would be weird for Yzerman to let Larkins agent talk terms with teams when they are so close to a deal. Could Yzerman use that as a "we will totally trade you if you dont come to 8.3 per year!" kind of a maneuver?

Marc Denis at RDS mentionned the possibility of Carolina being interested in Larkin in Stone and Patch's absences. That would be sick - Carolina is already well built with a lot of depth

Any link for that quote?

I looked him up on Twitter and saw nothing about it. Also, Stone has nothing to do with Carolina. I assume you were trying to say Carolina AND Vegas being possibly interested.

He isn't going to be traded. Thanks to Larkins backpack, we are 4 points out of a playoff spot with 3 games in hand.
Increasing his trade value right before the deadline.
What a good captain.

They speculated about this on TNT a couple weeks ago.

Makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Carolina, in particular, has the assets to win Larkin if there was a bidding war.

Larkin, if available, becomes the prize of the UFA market.
Especially for any team that sees its window open for the next 3-4 years.

I can see Colorado (last kick at the cane before Mackinnon's big contract kicks in). Dallas maybe.

Toronto? If I were Dubas, I'd consider trading for Larkin. Then trading Matthews to Arizona before the draft, and then sign Larkin.

Matthews for Bedard :)

From the wild I’d offer

Marco Rossi , 2024 1st , Jordan Greenway and a B prospect or 3rd

Larkin would have to accept a trade to MN and an 8 years by 9 million contract.

I don't see anyway the wings trade him. They are close to playoffs, while they might not yet be ready to be buyers at deadline, you don't sell off your best player who is only 26 to keep rebuilding.

The only way they consider moving him is if he has made it clear he will not sign with Det not even if pigs fly and not even for Mackinnon/Mcdavid money
