Friedman: Dylan Larkin requests trade

5 games in 2015-16, his rookie year. 10 years ago lol.

I get that fans don't like it when their good players ask for trades, but let's be so real here, he gave the organization ample time to get back to being competitive, and they've so far refused to make it happen.

Not trading for Quinn Hughes, who wanted to go to Detroit, is a reasonable final straw.

I ask again, are you satisfied with what Yzerman has accomplished?

Feel free to go back through my posting history. I was critical of his bitching about the 24-25 deadline. After this most recent collapse I straight up said numerous times that he's not captain material of a team trying to get over the hump, and that while I didn't want to see him traded, I didn't see any scenario where he would give up the C and stay with the team.

It's funny how it's "Poor guy wants to compete and management just isn't getting it done." This MF'er went a 10 game stretch from March 1st to April 5th this season posting 5 points in 10 games and only one wasn't on the PP. 10 game stretch in the middle of a playoff push and your captain puts up ONE even strength point in 10 games.

Think it's just a fluke? 24-25? The year he was bitching about Yzerman not making a trade? He was PPG prior to 4Nations, and when he came back from 4Nations, he sunk to .74PPG.

Real leadership material when hockey matters most. Said this well pre-trade request: Larkin may be a good leader on a great team, but when the team gets stuck in the mud, he doesn't pull the wagon out. He just sits there and cries that he got muddy.

Larkin scored 1 5on5 goal in 2026. One.

Justin Holl scored as many.

Justin Faulk had 5.

Now he demands a trade? Dude is the reason the Red Wings collapsed. The guy basically Marner'd the Red Wings. Perform like trash and then gas lighted everyone into thinking the team was the issue on the way out.

Detroit is going to get a HAUL from this. There's going to be about 31 teams bidding on him and he'll accept the best package offered, assuming Larkin approves where it is.

Ya his 5v5 stats kinda make me a bit worried, he’s kinda on his down swing of his career too. He’s a good fit but could end up meh quickly

Part of me would rather wait and see how mctavish bounces back.

I'd be thrilled with something around McTavish and Zellwegger, as people are suggesting. I've liked Zellwegger when I've seen him, but am surprised to find out his minutes go down every year. Averaged less than 17 last season.

Is he a liability or is it just a log jam with Lacombe, Carlson, Trouba, Mintyukov, Gudas, etc?

Anaheim wants to be big physical zellweger isn’t big.

Lacombe is our 1D
Mintyukov is built how PV wants our defense to be

Then we have guys like hinds and solberg coming… hinds was a great fit at the end of the season. And the team is very high on solberg, and his style of play.

Zellweger kinda just a casualty of depth/fit. I think a team will be pretty happy with him… top 4 dmen upside , plays rhd or lhd. Is a bit fiesty for his size. Think there is a lot of room for his offensive #s to jump.

Mctavish will prob bounce back nicely…. Does have good leadership qualities…. Still a lot of potential w/ him. Was streaks where he looked like he’d be a low end 1c, right now consistency and footspeed is what he needs to fix.

I'd love to get Stian Solberg out of Anaheim with McTavish but I don't see them doing that at all.

They'd have to be absolutely salivating for Larkin and I just don't see it.
Ya I don’t see Anaheim moving solberg, Anaheim had him very high on their draft board…. Traded up to grab him and may have been the happiest I’ve ever seen our scouts after we picked him. I think they think he’s going to be a corner stone dmen for us.

I’d consider solberg in a trade if we were going for Thomas…. But Larkin has his flaws and on the older side …. I wouldn’t go all in for him

Yeah I don't expect him to be in any package from Anaheim, just fantasizing.

Seider/Solberg on the ice for 45 minutes a night would be ideal.

Larkin does have the no trade clause which he can waive, and to many this may seem like something he can screw the Wings with, but the reality is he's signed for 5 more seasons and he will be 30 this July. Since he requested the trade, it's probably going to be a mutual agreement from both sides to win in the end. Not saying Larkin will accept going to any team, but I think his list will be big enough to give Yzerman enough options to draw a bidding war.

Better for Detroit to be honest. Hurts now but they’ll be better in the long run. Overrated

Doesn't even hurt now tbh. It's actually kind of exciting because it will force Yzerman to actually do something different, and for better or worse, ownership's love affair with Yzerman means moving on from him isn't a realistic discussion even though many of us wish it was.

I'd rather be dead last than perennially 19th. Dead center of purgatory with no end in site is the *true* rock bottom.

Feels like this could be a Tampa last ditch throw everything sell the farm at this for one more run kind of move. Think the Blackhawks should be making a strong bid.
4th overall
3 2nds
Greene
Korchinski
(Burakovsky+Mangiapane for salary)

Not bad IMO, esp considering Stenberg will be there for the taking.

While the value is okay .... i dont see Anaheim parting ways with Solberg.

We moved up to grab him(1st + 2nd), and our scouts had him much higher than 22. I think they see him as a corner stone dmen for our group. Id prob only be willing to include players like Mcqueen or Solberg for someone like Thomas. Larkin a bit on the older side for me to want to include either of those 2 guys.
I’m sure this is how Verbeek sees it as well. MacT+moore/hinds/zell
