So Detroit's definitely making the playoffs next year right?
Very much could be
We’ll know next season
Not likely he goes to a team where he's the leader, and not likely Detroit gets an immediate Top 6 Center replacement for him.
So no, we probably wont know next season.
Marner is in a leadership with Vegas and this is his first season
So YES, we very much could know if it is just a cancerous organization, or cancerous player
Detroit isn’t trading Larkin for two healthy scratches lol. McTavish could be a smaller piece if they want to move him. Zell does nothing. If he's willing and with the NMC that's a key point, Anaheim could be a good fit both ways. They've got their 1C so he'd be the 2C in a greatly reduced pressure role. Going back would be McT, probably Zell, and something smaller if needed depending on Detroit's needs. That would essentially be the same salaries so easy to fit. SY and PV have a long term relationship and have made deal before so negotiations probably wouldn't be too contentious.
McT at 23 would be a great piece if Detroit wants to rebuild, and with his expected bounce back next year, could be part of the rebuild to build around.
I've said in other threads that I'd rather that the Ducks keep McT to see how well he bounces back...but for Larkin, yeah that's workable.
Yeah for this to go public now we arrived at the “stomp on the neck” part of the divorce to make things move quickerJudging by some of the reports going 'round (I don't recall where exactly) this has been going on since approximately 2023. Dunno if he's had a trade request out that long, but I think the "let them sit" approach has already been tried.
Why would he be forced to trade him if he doesn't sign in the first week? Yeah, there's the whole 8th contract year, but nobody is expecting him to sign for that long. If he stays, it's gonna be very likely a 3-year extension which can be agreed to any time in July or after. The point is that he has a week to make use of the 8th contract year before he is forced to trade him. Guerin will panic if he doesn't sign day one.. Quinn may even tell Bill to kick rocks if the Devils have Larkin in tow.
I believe the cutoff to sign for the 8 years is in September, when the new CBA rules kick in.The point is that he has a week to make use of the 8th contract year before he is forced to trade him. Guerin will panic if he doesn't sign day one.. Quinn may even tell Bill to kick rocks if the Devils have Larkin in tow.
