I'm not the biggest advocate of RNH at center but with Hyman and Holloway as wingers that line would match up well against most lines in the league. Try McLeod on Draisaitl's wing. Drai plays so many minutes there is essentially a rotation of wingers playing with him.

It's not bad, but Hyman can produce and will produce more in the top-6, imo. McLeod is an option there too but I think him fully establishing himself as solid net positive for the this team in the bottom-6 is really important.
The other option is Puljujarvi, if Bourgault (or a trade) is made to have someone else at RW2.
My team right now, if I had my choice
Kane - McDavid - Yamamoto
Hyman - Draisaitl - Bourgault
Holloway - Nuge - Puljujarvi
Janmark - McLeod - Ryan/Foegele
Foegele/Ryan, Shore
If the kids show they can play in the NHL, this team is deep enough at forward to support and cover them.

Just throwing stuff against the wall with zero regard to what I truly think will/should happen but...
I like Leon with the two rookies:

Holloway Draisaitl Borg
Hyman Nuge Yamamoto
Janmark McLeod Ryan
Shore/Virt
Its ridiculous I know but I like how stylistically Holloway & Borg compliment Leon's abilities. That third line should feast and even that fourth should get a bump in minutes.

If those kids show they're "NHL Ready" in camp, this team is deep enough at forward to make this work. imo.
We would also need a visit from the “cap hit fairy” to make a few $M disappear.

Gotta say I'm not a huge fan of 4C McLeod. If it were up to me I'd probably do this:
Kane-McDavid-Yamamoto
McLeod-Draisaitl-Hyman
Holloway-Nuge-Puljujarvi
Janmark-Ryan-Foegele/Bourgault/Virtanen
this is a pretty interesting idea. With Drai's ability, this is a top 10 second line. Could be very good within a year. It just makes the forward group so dominating if it works. Next year, swap Holloway and Hyman
If Bourgault and Holloway earn spots, we have a scary forward group

The line up suggested was conspicuously missing Foegele even on the bench...
I am really hoping if he cant be moved without adding a high pick that the Oilers pull a Tampa Bay and can "add" him to the LTIR right up to the playoffs. Where we can add him for free... If we need/want to.

We can’t just magically put healthy players on the LTIR. Tampa has had some suspicious luck with that but the oilers wouldn’t get away with this, nor would Foegele have any good reason to go along with it.The line up suggested was conspicuously missing Foegele even on the bench...

KK is out for mental illness... Not saying its fabricated but it may well be convenient if it lasts all year.
Whether Koekkoek is in the minors or on LTIR doesn't really impact the Oilers cap situation. Doesn't benefit them either way. His whole deal is buriable so they could have just sent him down if he was healthy to play but couldn't make the roster.

dug around looking for preseason stats and finally found some.
Biggest things that jumped out to me is Holloway and Benson lead the team in SOG with 10 and 8 respectively. Love me a shooter's mentality.

Would love to see Benson steal a 4th line spot. More depth only makes cap dumping Foegele easier.

I saw some flashes of Holloway getting ready to break out against Chicago. I'm guessing that he pots his first in the next game or 2 and then starts to become an impact player for us in relatively short order.

Happy he got his first point, I actually thought he made a nice play in his own zone to start the whole sequence.
I'm seeing more and more good things, but I think would send him down to get more ice time in Bako, and recall either Hamblin or kostin

I wonder if he doesn’t rapidly elevate his game and more minutes if they send him down to Bakersfield after 9 games, bring up Hamblin etc.. If it’s an improvement with Hamelin, keep Holloway down to further develop and then possibly use him as a late season call up. Save one year on his ELC if he stays in Bakersfield?

I’ve loved how he looks and he should be playing more, especially with Yamo not being “good” Yamo right now.
Holloway stands out in a good way with his board work, speed, and patience with the puck. I’m very impressed with him and I think he’ll be a big contributor by the time this season wraps.
