Wow, he should be grandfathered into the 2nd line RW because of a secondary assist on a GWG against a team that is likely bottom 5 in the league when the season ends.

? He pressured Toews into making a pass through traffic, got the interception, and then made a great read to get it to Kane and force goaltender movement to the right, which led to a wide open net as the pass came to Drai b/c goalie couldn't stop movement. Yamamoto has had his issues this season but devaluing this play aint it.

Oilers are 6-3, so he if isn't producing on the score sheet, he's probably contributing in other areas helping the team win. I'll trust Woodcroft in his usage.

Watching the games he isn't contributing in any tangible way. His advanced stats aren't great either with almost every player having better advanced stats when he is not with them.

Thought Holloway had a strong, confident game in Calgary despite the small minutes. Followed it up with a very good game at 4C against Nashville. There's a lot of poise and confidence within this young player despite some fan's impressions. Big, physically imposing and strong two way game ... now being entrusted to audition and play at centre. Said before Holloway is an NHL player, earned through his work in training camp and his internal motor. Credit Woodcroft for deploying in a manner to find ice-time and grow this kid's contribution on a veteran team.

I like his usage. He was in over his head and now he is slowly getting up to nhl speed.
I would like him moved up to the third line soon just because Foegele is not finishing his oppurtunities. Foegele looks like a great high energy fourth liner to me. Not expected to score on the fourth line. Holloway is in theory a better fit on our third line that has more speed and skill.

Don’t mind Holloway getting 9-10 mins as 4th line Center. He was a Center in college and great at faceoffs before the wrist surgery. A if he can develop as a C/le that provides better depth and value.. Shore and Ryan always seem to play well together so not a bad place to break in a rookie

Just a reminder Yamo only had 2 points in his first 9 games last season (he has 3 pts in 9 GP now), yet still got hot enough on the back half to walk away with 20 goals, You are fully entitled to be unhappy with his play and I am myself, but he has shown he can bounce back from a bad start and get hot before.
With respect to Holloway, even if his analytics aren't the greatest at the moment, I do feel like he is learning and he is starting to build some momentum post injury, I 100% believe he can be a bedrock piece to giving us a quality 4th line this season as the main line driver much like McLeod was a year ago.
A part of me does want to push Holloway up a level and see him possibly get some points with better players, but having 4 lines that can push the tempo/pace is pretty nice to have too.
We've generally been a 2 line team where we just hoped the bottom six just didn't bleed as many goals as McDrai could put the team up, but for the first time in ages I truly believe we have 4 lines that can outscore the opposition. Though in saying that I am wondering if we might need to worsen our 4th line 5 on 5 wise for the sake of adding a PK specialist to the group. I don't think our present PK issues are PK forward related, but if we keep sucking in this department we'll have to find some way to address the issue.

Holloway’s first giveaway was a bit of a tough situation. Having already been clobbered in the NHL in his young career. He’s given the puck to transition it through the neutral zone, see’s two devils directly in front of him and another comes at him from the side. A literal wall of Devils and he’s left with no options and no experience to handle a situation like that in this League.
There will be growing pains for him for sure. Mcleod had them too. And ultimately Holloway’s ceiling has a good chance to be higher than mcleod’s.
