Of the Buffalo players I'm most interested in, it's not Krebs or Cozens or any of the C prospects other Flames fans have inquired about. For me, it's Jokiharju.

Andersson might be a name popping up, but that might also mean other names are too. Not that I'm saying it's actually happening, I'd wonder in the back of my mind if Adams is a guy also looking at Dobson etc. to redesign his top 4 and his relatively pricey bottom 4 blueline. Byram's name has popped up as a guy going out, but I'd imagine it could be possible that he moves multiple dmen. If Joker doesn't have to go to that team he's trading with, I'd be really interested what the ask is.

I dunno what the Flames could offer other than decent 3RD and cap space though, so there's probably not much of a deal to be made. I think both teams are trying to do quantity for quality/swap pieces for better stylistic fit moves, so the options might be limited.
We don't really need Andersson at all and probably Dobson, we have Dahlin and Power who move the puck, play PP and are offensively inclined, also Dahlin will probably play RD on the first pair. We need a defensive top 4 RD on the second pair to play with Power.

Jokiharju would probably be available, but maybe we could include him in a deal for another RD or top 6 forward (not as a main asset).

We don’t need D like Andersson or Dobson. We’ve got the puck-moving/offensive fire power we need on the blue line in Dahlin, Byram, and Power. If we’re looking for a 4th D for the top 4 to round things out, it should be someone in the mold of Weegar.

That said, it certainly looks like Jokiharju could be an odd man out. Samuelsson, too, perhaps.

Isn't Weegar the guy who loves to play LD even though he's right handed?

Cozens does not have the value to bring back a top pairing d-man, no one is going to trade a top pairing d-man for a 2nd line center, who can't score and who should be a winger making 7.5. Mittelstadt was different cos well he's better than Cozens, I'd even argue a Kadri for Cozens swap would be fair just based on the fact that Cozens has sucked for the last year
And Kadri is better than Cozens not even an argument

Sabres have lost enough trades the last decade. Just won't sell him right now.

As a Flames fan, who recalls the Feaster and prior years vividly, I always remembered being like ‘well, this trade is clearly rock bottom’ just to be surprised by a new low.

I thought 3 former core guys winning cups quickly after leaving was, but we're still looking for rock bottom.

Unless the Sabres brass are just running around like chickens with their heads cut off, i just really don't see how or why they'd move Cozens at this point. He's not only at probably a value low point, he's also clearly the guy that they decided to roll with, over Mittelstadt.

The Sabres really shouldn’t do anything drastic with their young players.

Just cause your coach is “new” doesn’t mean he’s any good. Ruff has name value and nostalgia value for Sabres fans it seems. But the proof is in the pudding, when a team can’t bring pace for a full 60 that’s on the coach. When a team looks disconnected, that’s on the coach.

Start there before selling your talent for pennies on the dollar.

Hey Buffalo fans. Can an argument be made that your D Corp is so young that it needs a more veteran presence such as Andersson?

Another question I have is if Cozens were to be traded do you have enough centre depth on the roster or in the minors to compensate?

Anderson isn’t the type of defenseman we’re missing, and no, our center depth is trash.

Answer to the first question is yes.

Answer is the second is more nuanced. Current center depth with Cozens is not adequate. There is help on the way in the minors but that's down the road.

Gimme Kadri at 25% retained and Miromanov for Cozens.

Can’t see the flames retaining that long on Kadri. Not like their ownership group to do so. He’s also been well worth his contract thus far

Remains to be seen how many of the remaining years he’ll keep it up but if Buffalo wanted to roll the dice that would be an interesting starting point. Think he’s the kind of player the sabres need

That’s exactly my logic, and we don’t need to worry about his playoff antics because.. a few incidents does not predict future behavior. Also, because it’s the Sabres- a 1st round exit would be nice.

Don’t really know what Flames have, but if there’s a functional RD I could maybe forget the retention.
