Dude! What are you doing in that uniform? Part III

Craig Ludwig, New York Islanders (1991-92; 75GP - 1G - 8A - 9 P - 77PIM - [-24])

(He still had another 8 seasons of add-ons to those shin guards.)

Love the rich blue of this Islander jerseys

Where exactly does Ludwig fit though? Habs? North Stars/Stars? I guess it depends on when you started watching hockey...

Robert Gordon Orr

Yeah thats cool, a few years after he retired, Oldtimers Game, the North Stars short a few players so he obliged.... another much earlier shot of Orr wearing the blue & white of the Toronto Marlboros floating around, interesting story behind that one.... cant seem to find it at the moment so if anyone has it, feel free to put it up....

Tim Hunter as a Nordique (which only lasted 48 games before he was off to Vancouver) always looked a little off, in large part because he choose, for reasons unknown, to wear #65. It was also a double slap in the face that the Flames, a team he had worn a letter for and been a leader on, left him unprotected in the Expansion Draft. After he was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning, they, in turn, also didn't have any use for him so they traded him to the Quebec Nordiques (not a desirable landing spot at the time) for Future Considerations. After nearly 50 games in La Belle Province, Hunter was placed on waivers where the Canucks picked him and he once again settled into a leadership role with his new club and made his way back to the Stanley Cup Finals (his third) in 1994.

Terry Sawchuk during his one season in LA 1967-68, putting up an 11-14-6 record and a 3.07 GAA and being outplayed by rookie Wayne Rutledge 20-18-4 2.87 GAA.

After seeming to be absolutely done during short stint with New Jersey and LA that season, he joined his third team of the year when he went to Dallas, and suddenly turned it on and put up 15 points 20 games.

We could have a whole thread about well-known players who went to the Rangers late in their careers, starting to get washed-up, and then retired or almost retired after the NYR stint... "What are you doing in that NYR uniform?":
